Sand Soccer - what are crowds like?

We have a timeshare exchange booked at Boardwalk Villas from 6/9 - 6/16, and I'm second guessing our timing as I see there is a sand soccer tournament 6/9 - 6/11 and from looking at their website it appears it takes up the entire beach area? Is this a crazy time in Virginia Beach? We have never been to Virginia Beach and want to enjoy the boardwalk area and beach, although we will also likely take a couple of day trips during the week.

Also will the crowds die down a bit after the weekend or do most of the sand soccer folks come and stay the entire week?

Generally is this a bad week to visit if you are not part of the soccer tournament?

The more crowded time will be the weekend. But it will peter out during the week a bit. But then you have the following weekend's Boardwalk Art Show and Festival. Prior to your visit will be the Patriotic Festival. Virginia Beach is a lively place. There are festivals and races and events nearly every weekend much of the year.

But the boardwalk is 30' wide and 3 miles long. The beach at many spots goes out a football field deep. There are the lawns and, in some cases, spectacular landscaping of the hotels on the other side of the boardwalk as well as a two lane winding path for bicycles and surry carriages for families to ride.

So there is a lot of space to handle it.

Souvenir type shops are on the first street from the Beach, Atlantic Ave.
