Do you recommend buying rodeo tickets ahead of time? It appears that when purchasing online one is not buying for a particular date but a month (August). How do they manage crowd control or does it not get that busy?

Thank you.

The only tickets I would buy online would be the July 4th Cody Stampede Rodeo where it is reserved seating only. All other performances are general admission. They sell tickets all over town so there really is no reason to buy them ahead of time unless you plan on driving into Cody right before 7pm (when the grandstand opens) and don't want to stand in line to buy tickets.

The grandstands are pretty large so I don't think they have to worry about selling too many tickets on normal rodeo nights.

Hi, I will also be one night in Cody in August and I was wondering if I should buy rodeo tickets in advance, as we plan to arrive in Cody around 5 pm.

By "general admission" performance I guess you mean that it is not possible to reserve seating in advance. But if we buy tickets in Cody the day of arrival, whether it is directly at the rodeo or at any other point of sale, can we choose our seats? Or do we just get in and take a seat wherever we want?

And what are the best seats?

All tickets are general admission for either the grandstand or buzzard roost seating. The grandstand is the seating area closest to the gate and is on the south side of the arena. The buzzard roost is the seating area on the north side of the arena. We like the buzzard roost seating for 2 reasons. First, it overlooks the chutes, so you can watch the cowboys get ready for the rough stock events. And second, as you walk to the stands, you pass the corrals where they keep the bulls.

To further clarify, Teton Bill, the general admission ticket will get you into both the grandstand and the buzzard roost seating areas but you recommend the buzzard roost seating?

Thank you.

That is correct. Tickets are general admission all of August.
