Unfortunately, the Cody Nightly Rodeo will not be operating during your trip (last day is August 31).

Other Possibilities:

Buffalo Bill Center of the West

Wild Mustang Tour

Heart Mountain WWII Japanese-American Confinement Site

Old Trail Town

Thank you Deb!

I was really looking forward to the rodeo and was extremely disappointed that we will miss it!

We are hoping to find one elsewhere on our trip.

Thank you for taking the time to offer your advice, I really appreciate it!

Thank you!

Are you using Jackson as a base to see Cody? That's a bad idea.

With one full day in Jackson, here are some ideas.

Visit Jackson Town Square and take the obligatory picture by the antler arch.

Drive to Grand Teton National Park and drive the 42 mile scenic loop, stopping a viewpoints along the way.

Stop at Jackson Lake Lodge and go up in to the lobby for the "Wow!" of the Grand Tetons from the huge picture window. Pioneer Grill would be a good lunch stop.

If the scenic cruises are still operating during your visit, continue on to Colter Bay for a cruise on Jackson Lake.

Lakeshore Trail is an easy walk from Colter Bay Village.

Stop at String Lake and walk the easy walk along the shore line.

Drive Jenny Lake Road and stop at the overlook.

No, that was a typo. We are actually planning a roadtrip Denver - Cody - YS - Jackson - Bear Lake - Park City - Moab - Aspen - Denver and a few places in between them.

Thank you for your ideas!!!

I trust you have a couple of months for that kind of itinerary, right?

If not SCALE WAY BACK. If you don't with all due respect you are "bonkers" unless you really like spending a "YUGE" amount of your time in the vehicle.

Seriously, REALLY rethink this. September is an awesome time to be here, get out and see the west without the window in between.

Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of spending anymore time than this and as you can see by my question and comments - I am only looking for advice on 'MUST DO's' in Cody, Wy.

I'm struggling to understand why people keep commenting on other things. If I wanted to be insulted and have a downer made on my trip with my family - I would have asked.

In this thread, all I simply asked is the must do's in Cody, Wy.

It may not be your cup of tea but I enjoy car rides, I am perfectly happy with spending short bursts in places. I don't need days of exploring places (I like hours). I an unable to travel any longer than this (my family can only be here for a short time).

We are all different and I am allowed to enjoy car rides and have a full itinerary and not be 'bonkers'.

I feel like if I had said I would be travelling there for months, people would still say I'm crazy and I need more time. I get it, it's a short time frame. I never asked for anyone's input on that. All I asked was simply the MUST DO's in Cody, Wy.

I am very disappointed in TA, I wish people would stick the question itself. Do people think I want to travel for just a couple weeks? OF COUSE NOT! I would want years.....unfortunately reality doesn't work this way.

So I truly appreciate the people who actually answered my one simple question. And I truly DO NOT appreciate any other 'KIND' advice that has been sent my way.

Here are some of my favorites for Cody -

It does include a short drive to the little town of Meeteetse - which is worth it IMO to visit the store of the cowboy chocolatier :-)
