What is the feasibility of doing this trip and staying in Cody .How long does it take and what route?

In December, the most direct route is route 26 through Dubois, then 133/134/789 to Shoshone, 789 to Thermopolis and 120 on to Cody. It's 300 miles and takes no more than 5 hours. It's a scenic route and we always go this way.

I'd suggest that you travel with warm clothes and extra food and water. Check road conditions and weather before you set out.
