Ischgl Backcountry Snowboarding?

I am thinking of heading to Ischgl at the end of January 2011. There will just be 2 in our group and we will be looking for some off-piste and backcountry snowboarding.

If anyone has any info about this. Whether it can be done, if there are mountain guides etc.. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Ischgl being very popular and full of skiers /snowboarders- safe off piste areas of new snow untracked does not last very long.

Go early - perhaps the better place to the left of the Gempenbahn

Much depends on your ability level- perhaps best the first day to go with a qualified instructor/guide - check ski schools - certain to have qualified ones available not cheap.

Our newspapers filled each year with those in trouble off piste areas even to having been in an avalanche.

Lot of tours go off the back of the Alp Trida

Try

If you have transport another interesting place for off piste is St Anton. One of the interesting routes is off the back of the Valluga down to Lech. Should be done with a guide

Thank you for the information. The website above has some good information.

I have some experience with backcountry snowboarding and would always use a mountain guide if going on a backcountry tour. I will be looking for something adventurous and hopefully get some good powder.
