Travelling with young children - do we take car seats

Our quite tall nearly 5yr old and 6 1/2yr olds are in booster type seats in NZ (still under the 148cm restriction). What are the rules in Fiji regarding car seats? We will try to use buses when possible as we are staying in Denarau, but what if we go in a taxi?

There is no law on baby/child car seats in Fiji (regardless of child's age or height). Taxis are not equipt with them. If you need a child car seat, you will either need to bring your own or book a private hire car with car seats. We purchased one of those child seat belt connectors for our 2 year old (the type they give you on the plane for lap babies). We bought if off eBay. We used this when traveling in taxis & had her sitting on our lap.

We have never taken or car seats, rules are very 'relaxed' over there!
