Amalfi to Rome any suggestions please?

Group of 5 heading back to Rome in july,checking out about midday have booked accommodation in Rome that nite for flight out next morning.Which is the most satisfactory route to Rome please.?

I agree with #1 but if the tickets for the ferry+train exceed 500€ for all 5 maybe it is better to consider a private transfer door to door.

Actually, the absolutely lowest train fare from either Salerno or Naples to Rome is only 9.90 Euros (Trenitalia Super Economy advance purchase fare on the somewhat slower Intercity or Frecciabianca train only). The lowest fare on competitor Italo Treno is around 15 Euros, while the Trenitalia Frecciarossa or Frecciargento trains start at 19.90 Euros. To get these very low fares, you usually need to book well in advance (but never more than four months). Otherwise, fares, including discount fares, will be higher.

I have accessed Salerno to Rome schedule for speed trains and there are no afternoon trains is that normal?

The July schedule may not yet be published. Take a look at an earlier date (early June) for an idea of schedules that should be in effect in July.
