Where to stay where you can walk to good restaurants and bar

I have a friend who has told me Barbados is the place to go. I am trying to understand how everything works here. We would like to stay somewhere where we can easily walk or grab a quick ride to restaurants ands bars. Where is the best location on the island? Any advice on anything at this point would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks!

There are two main popular area . The South coast which is centred around St Lawrence Gap. A very popular lively place with many clubs restaurants and bars and a mixture of mainly All Inclusive hotels and a good range of reasonably priced accommodation. The beaches are good but the sea can be rough at certain times of the year as it is actually the Atlantic Ocean in that area.

The West Coast, commonly known as the Platinum Coast, is mainly centred around Holetown and further north ,Speightstown. This coast is where the so called rich and famous stay, but you really don't have to be either to holiday there. Holetown has a wealth of restaurants, bars and one new nightclub and is very popular with visitors. The beaches are in the main, good, and generally the sea is much calmer for bathing. Places to stay vary from 5 star mega epensive Hotels and Villas to one bed studio apartments. with every type of accommodation in between.

You will find people on here are either confirmed Southies or Westies. I am a true westie and would always recommend anyone to stay on our coast. To me it is more green and pretty among other things , but that's just me. You will know doubt hear from all sides.

There is of course, always the east side which is brilliant for surfing and much more quiet and undeveloped, but really the whole Island is only 14 by 21 miles, so nothing is far away.

Be assured ,wherever you choose to stay, you will love Barbados. Good luck in finding your perfect spot.

I would recommend you take a look at staying on the South Coast, somewhere around Rockley, Worthing, Hastings or St. Lawrence Gap would be superb for what you're looking for.

Have a look at properties such as Coral Mist, Blue Orchids, Accra Beach Hotel, Coconut Court, Courtyard by Marriott, Rostrevor, Southern Palms or Worthing Court Apartments. Lots of restaurants and bars would be within your walking distance.

The West Coast is also superb, but is much pricier as that's where the majority 5* hotels and several 4* properties are located.

Do take a look at www.totallybarbados.com where you will find a wealth of quality and up-to-date information on the island.

Hope this helps

Regards

If you like the sound of the west coast beach view is very very reasonable price wise and a superb hotel in its category, check out the reviews.

Have a good trip.
