Closest beach

We arrived at Fiscardo yesterday and discovered Foki beach. We're staying at Almyra a Hotel, is this beach the closest?

Hi jules

Foki is one of our favourite spots but no it's not the nearest, that's Emblissi beach.

As you walk down hill from the Almyra turn left at Mirella's and follow the winding road down. If you mention to Eleni at reception that you want to go I'm sure she will drop you off and pick you up either at Mirella's or even the beach itself while doing one of the regular runs to and from the harbour in the minibus.

It's bigger than Foki, small pebbles but no beds etc, although there is a limited amount of shade from trees.

Another option is Kimilia, in the opposite direction. Turn right out of the hotel and walk uphill as far as Irida's ceramic studios. There is a path signposted to the beach.

Hope you have s great time.

Thanks Fiscardofan.

We liked Foki too but we don't plan on hiring a car so probably don't want to walk there every day. It was a bit overcast today so a pleasant day for exploring. It was extremely busy in the town though, I don't know if that was just because it wasn't blistering sunshine or if it's like that all the time. Very pretty though.

The harbour can vary considerably depending on whether there's tour busses and tour boats in. That's usually from late morning through lunch.

That said, we never go in July or August.

If you only want an hour or 2 on a beach you could always get the hotel bus into the harbour then walk as if you're going to Foki but nowhere near as far there's a small beach just south of the Roman Cemetery. It's not very big so you probably wouldn't want to spend the day there but ok for a short stay and swim. There's a cafe opposite.

I can bask on a beach all day long just venturing to a taverna for a lunch break but the first hotel bus isn't until 11am so great idea but it wouldn't work for us. We might just have to walk off the gorgeous Greek yoghurt and honey!
