My family will be visiting in January and plan on spending one night in Monteverde specifically for the ziplining experience. I see lots of different operators and many of them have excellent reviews. Is there a big difference between them? Did one stand out over the others? I have three kids, aged 12, 9, and 8.

29 helpful votes I wouldn't go to Monteverde for only one night and just for zip lines. There are excellent opportunities near Arenal, if you'll be there, too. There's a lot to do up the mountain; for the trouble of getting there I consider two nights to be the minimum.
100% Aventura have some of the best ziplines that I have experienced. The superman zip and tarzan swing are awesome. Like Mim says maybe not just for a night. Lots of zips everywhere.

OK Monteverde it is. They have the Original Canopy Tour which is "old school" tree platform to tree platform Zipline. Thus you are nearer to the trees and some runs are at the tree tops.
The Zipline experience at Selvatura is similar. Tree to tree at the canopy level.
SkyTrek is different. You are going from platform to platforms that are built specifically for ziplining. You are higher and faster.... more of a "thrill" ride .
Both styles are fun, and offer different experiences.
YOUtube has videos of each you may want to watch to get a feel for applicability for the 8 and 9 year old

29 helpful votes My point was that, in my opinion, it's not worth the effort to go to Monteverde for only one night. See if you can settle for zip lines near Arenal.
