We always try and fly Alaska. We can fly direct to Maui. We use our mileage points to upgrade to first class whenever we can on this flight. .

Alaska Airlines makes to possible for mileage plan customers to enjoy leisure travel without furling like a "stand-by customer". My husband and I used only about 70,000 miles for a very long and otherwise expensive trip. Not only did we 'fly free' ... but we were upgraded to 'priority seats' for all Alaska flights on the itinerary. Amazing !!!

We fly several times a year on our vacations, using different airlines, depending on where we are going. We’re not the picky flyers who expect first class service while paying economy fares. We’re satisfied to be able to get to our destination in a timely manner and safely, knowing that there may be situations out of the control of the airlines.

We were up in Juneau, Alaska for a three day weekend during the last weekend in February. On the day of our return flight back to San Francisco it was snowing heavily. When we checked in with Alaska Airlines at the counter, the lady apologized that our flight to Seattle where we had a connection was cancelled. We were worried but realized that the weather was something beyond their control and asked if there were any recommendations.

The lady was very apologetic and was fast at work at her keyboard trying to come up with a plan B. She managed to get us on a later flight with a connection at Seattle to San Francisco.

We got on the later flight and while still waiting to taxi, the pilot announced that the plane was delayed due to deicing that needed to be done. The pilot kept the passengers constantly informed of the progress – more so than what other airlines would do.

We made our connection in Seattle and got home back to San Francisco three hours later than what we had hope to; arriving at 11 PM instead of 8 PM.

A couple of days later we received an email from Alaska Airlines apologizing for the delay (even though the weather was no fault of theirs). We were surprised that to compensate for the inconvenience they credited $75 for the next time we fly for each of us. Very nice touch, Alaska Airlines. In my grade book they get an A+ for customer service.

We paid to switch our tickets to an earlier flight, just to have it majorly delayed. This is the 2nd time on Alaska between Seattle and Las Vegas that our Alaska flight has been majorly delayed. I honestly expect a LOT more from Alaska, and they need to figure out where they are messing up and get it fixed or their overall customer satisfaction scores are going to go way down. They pre-board WAY too many special groups of people, and this really slows down the boarding process - they need to figure this out too,. At the moment, not terribly happy with Alaska Airlines, and they have been my airline of choice for many years...
