There aren't a lot of options flying into Traverse City from the West Coast, but this worked for us. The connection time in Chicago O'Hare was tight but we made it. The movies offered on the SFO-ORD leg helps to pass the time. If you do fly to Traverse City, know that the auto rental offices close at midnight.

My daughter (14 yrs old) was flying home from Phoenix and the airline left early. She had already checked in so they knew she was at the airport. This must also be the only reason they rebooked her for no charge. Rediculous! Plus they have fees for everything! Add up all the fees before booking. There economy class isn't even economy anymore. It is a class below which is horrible. I will NEVER fly with them again.
Southwest airlines has won my heart!

Air travel used to be a luxury. The airlines now try to squeeze every dime out you possible. They nickle and dime you to death. If you use frequent flyer points you are still going to spend more money than you imagined. On top of charging you for everything the inflight service is almost absent. This trip I traveled with 5 family members. I picked up the tab. Imagine my surprise when I get the credit card bill and found out the charged me more than $100 extra for preferred seating that we definitely did not have. The process to go through to get a refund is absurdly tedious and extraneous. They did give me money back but it took 3 phone calls and several hours of work to get it.

I paid extra to be upgraded to better seats and service, but received neither. The return flight was delayed and rescheduled several times getting me back into Amarillo very late. Just not a very pleasant trip.

I booked my flight with a great deal of trepidation after my experiences last summer, but my travels were affected by a 3+ hour delay in my arrival in Denver. This was much better than the 24 hour delays and mistreatment (with the second trip) than last time. The airline even gave us free snacks and drinks in Dallas while we were waiting.
