If you fly ANA be prepared for very long check in lines, an area that ANA really needs to address. I have flown business class on many different airlines and all of them have dedicated lines for business class passengers, so I was disappointed that this was not the case with ANA. The higher rates for business class passengers should include separate check-in lines. The ANA Horizons lounge at JFK was also a disappointment with pedestrian food and seating.
The lounge at Haneda was excellent, but once again, no dedicated check in lines for business class ticket holders, a factor that may deter me from flying ANA in the future.
Once you get past the poor check in procedures, the flying experience aboard ANA was superb with excellent food and service. The business class suites are extremely roomy, almost palatial, and include a sliding panel for privacy. Unfortunately, the lavatories are small, as is the case with most airlines.
In summary, ground services merit a 4 rating at best but the flying experience is definitely a 5 star rating.
