“Great way to fly!”
Review of Qatar Airways

Reviewed 2 April 2018

The best thing about Qatar is the friendliness of the cabin crew. I took four long flights with Qatar, and every crew member was both personable and helpful. Additionally the seats were a little wider and had more legroom than the seats on the regular american airlines (Delta, American, United) flights.

The business class flight from Heathrow to Zanzibar via Doha started well with a fabulous lounge and service at Heathrow airport.

The on board team, seats and comfort well wonderful going to Doha. We were fortunate that we were on the A350 which had just been fitted with the new Q-Suite which is better than any other business class seats. It was a lovely experience.

Everything was soured at Doha airport where it took the ground team 50 minutes to get my mother off the planned with their vehicle lift for the disabled. The team were slow and disorganised. yes they had about 4 disabled people and their relatives but it was a mess. It was further compounded by only one wheel chair to share at the terminal. On poor person was trying his best but had little help from elsewhere. The team in the terminal looked like they hadn't been trained. Consequently we had to rush to catch the next flight despite a 2 hour stopover. We therefore never got to the Business lounge. Qatar sort this out as it makes you look incompetent !

The fligth from Doha to Zanzibar was on an older plane with seats that only reclined moderately. It was OK but nothing special.

Fortunately the return trip was much better as I decided to help my mother down teh steps of the plane onto teh normal Business transfer bus despite her wlaking difficulty. This way we at least got to see the fabulous lounge.

Qatar you need to do better to be a world class airline. However, the in fligth staff were excellent.

If your going to treat yourself to Business Class go for the best.
The comfort and space with Qatar is far better than with other airlines, as are the ‘goody bags’.
On the first leg of the flight the aircraft had a standing bar area where champagne and snacks are available throughout the flight, which is a welcome extra, and on night flights you get PJ’s...which many people take advantage of, so again a nice touch.
My only complaint would be the quality of the lounge in Manila, which was a Page lounge, it’s pretty poor, but hey once you get on the plane everything starts to look up.
A great experience.

I took the flight from Hong Kong to Amsterdam on 27 march 2018.
It had no direct flight from Hong Kong to Amsterdam provided by QTAR. So I had to transfer at Doha. It took about ten hours from Hong Kong to Doha. And eight hours from Doha to Amsterdam. But I found that it was quite easy to transfer even if the guest was not good in English. Because all the transfer details had already printed on the boarding pass from Doha to Amsterdam.
Moreover, the luggage would send to Amsterdam directly. The service of the cabin crew was very good. The cabin crew walked around the cabin frequently to see if there was any request from the guest.
There was two meals provided, the quality of the food was good.
Jump to the conclusion, I would surely consider this airlines again for my future trip.

I have no problem with Qatar Airway's on-board service, food or entertainment system. However, they have started using Dreamliner planes on this route with esating that is only suitable for short haul. As a result passengers have seats, leg room and as much space between them and the person next to them as you get on a Ryanair or Easyjet flight.

I don't care how good they think their "5 star service" is, it is not acceptable to provide seating that is configured for short haul for a 7+ hour flight.

I had the same situation on my return flight and the crew confirmed that this is the normal plane that they use on this route.

If your final destination is Doha then maybe (just maybe) its worth choosing Qatar Airways. If you are flying from Dublin to anywhere in Africa, the Middle East, Asia or Australasia then choose Emirates, Ethiad or Turkish instead.
