“Misplaced Luggage”
Review of United Airlines

Reviewed 19 July 2017 via mobile

As if delayed flights resulting in us missing our connecting flight and having to wait 24 hrs in the airport wasn't enough. Both my friend and I luggage were missing when we arrived at our final destination.
Only when this is rectified ASAP then I can rate otherwise. As of now I wouldn't even recommend a stray dog to your airline.

We almost missed our cruise because of a broken seat. I understand it being a "safety" issue, but we were not well informed and treated very very rudely by the customer service people. This problem should have been resolved in no more than a half hour, but we waited anxiously for almost 3 hours. The whole situation was very badly handled! Never again!

IF you'll check my previous review of my inbound flight, you can tell that I WASN'T pleased with the service at all. I was requesting a refund and downgrade because I DIDN'T think my first class flight was 1st class AT ALL for the price I paid. However, the return flight was MUCH better. The check in experience was better than on the inbound flight. I had forgotten how POOR an experience it can be travelling through Newark airport BUT having Premier Access and TSA Pre-check smoothed things over.

Again I went first class on a 757 and the power seat is a pleasure to use. It was luxurious and comfortable and nearly spread flat SO I could have a wonderful rest when I wasn't eating or drinking.

The beverage choices this time were even better and I got my preference for lunch was improved over the last flight. There were extra beverages with hot nuts prior to the meal. It was quiet and pleasant for a change. There was almost NO turbulence.

This time my luggage arrived intact and with the flight. United contacted me after my previously bad experience to be sure it went well this time and I appreciated that. I'll remain a loyal traveler as long as they correct for the bad service.

This was NOT the experience that I paid a first class ticket for! This was my first time flying first class on a 757 so I will admit that the seat was impeccable in terms of comfort, space and features. I did get nice beverage service and a nice selection of alcohol as well. However, I was one of the first people to request breakfast and I was stuck with an absolutely terrible choice which was sickeningly sweet because I was told the other option was out. MORE than half the first class passengers got that choice. On TOP of that, when I cut into the sandwich, it nearly EXPLODED and the sauce got all over my shirt. Luckily a flight attendant had a stain eraser stick which helped a bit. It DIDN'T get it all out so she gave me a voucher to dry clean the shirt. However, THAT didn't work EITHER! I will probably have to replace the shirt.

On TOP of that, one of my luggage WASN'T even placed on the plane! I was at the desk in plenty of time prior to the flight. Unfortunately, a rather incompetent desk clerk JAMMED the printer SO it took an extra 15 minutes while she lamely tried to figure out how to correct it. It MIGHT have printed the baggage tag incorrectly. THAT was NO excuse for NOT getting my luggage properly on the plane.

However, even though I presented ALL this to baggage service at Newark, they STILL didn't get my luggage on the next flight SO it didn't get to the handling center until late evening. I was given an "approximate" delivery time to my friend's address where I was staying which was 1 AM!! I was told that it wouldn't arrive until much later in the day. They woke up the whole house at 2:45 AM!!! I DIDN'T need it that badly.

Needless to say I was on the phone with UNITED every chance I could get and I demanded to fill out as many complaints / surveys as possible about my experience. The ONLY reason that I DIDN'T give this flight a ONE was due to the fat that UNITED refunded me $200 for this leg. I STILL DIDN'T think that was enough to compensate me for ALL the aggravation BUT I was told by other travelers that I got MORE than MOST others SO I should be satisfied with the result.

For the first time I flew first class, well it's called business class in their 737 Boeing. Anyhow- I was really disappointed in the comfort of their seats. The seat cushion was nearly flat and hard to sit on. Also on the return flight home we only had two options for breakfast. We could not chose from the menu. Egg chive omelette or French toast. I had the French toast which was awful. The bread was completely soggy and mushy. I was done after the first bite. For my first time experience flying business class- I wish I had saved the money and flown coach. Kind of sad.
