“Comfortable but........”
Review of Malindo Air

Reviewed 21 June 2019

We went using Malindo to balance the price and service thinking that we were better off than with Air Asia. Slightly but not much more better off - not worth the extr4a price in our view.
A midget meal - could have been a kids portion; Air Asia better on the food options . And no screens on the flight - so despite the advertising etc etc, there were no films and no music available.
Seat pitch is good but we would classify Malindo as being a budget airline for sure

I would say that the flight was like an in-between experience between a regular airline and budget airline. The food served was good and the seat interval spaces was good. A minimum luggage weight of 15 Kgs was included in the air fare. However, the airline should be more flexible in the cancellation and refund policy.

Fares are low because they gauge you for everything imaginable - including granting you check in luggage for your outbound journey but, on the return leg, informing you, at the airport, that your return sector has 0kg baggage allowance and fees are $40 per kg. I paid in advance for my check in but was 500g overweight and had to through out some of my clothes. My carry on was also 800g overweight and had to throw things from there. Customer service response on the scene: "we can upgrade you to business class for $600".

Also have an email chain running into triple figures from trying to sort out confusions and discrepancies since the day I bought my ticket.

Never again.

Both on time and flights quite smooth. Hope the company will buy and use new planes. Still safety was taken care of.

Malindo air is a budget airline as well but it's anyday lot better than AirAsia or Scoot. The ticket price includes baggage allowance as well as food on-board, which is not there on Air Asia or Scoot. They also provide blanket and cushion if the flight is at night. The airways has in-flight entertainment as well but some of the screens doesn't work.

I'd recommend Malindo if you're not getting Malaysian airlines at a cheaper price. Strictly avoid Scoot and Air Asia.
