Three senior staying near Brionne decided to visit, and we are so glad we did. Conducted tours are on every week day apart from Tuesdays, and are at 10.30; 3.00 & 4.00pm. A small fee is charged. Don't expect the Tour Guide to speak English, she tries, but then why don't we just learn French !! The tours are good, but are kept to the rather basic public areas, so do not expect to see the inhabitants at play. All is serene and beautifully kept, and well worth a visit.
The village is also delightful, but as we choose to take the 10.30am tour, the brasserie in the village was not open. The positive to the early tour was that there were only six of us on it.
The Abbey shop is well stocked, and the Monk looking after it, is a delight himself.

They abbey building looks like it was built in very rich times, looks expensive whereas the interior of the abbey's church is simple, you would rather say naked walls and alter. Next to the abbey is the village of Le Bex itself a must see for every tourist in the area.

Le Bec Hellouin was a bit of a deception. Nice serie of wooden small colorful houses finishing with the tourism office, in front of a church, but that's it. We could just see the abbey from the outside, big walls, an old nice bell tower, a church quite new and empty. Big green park around.

Great place to stay in pleasant historic village. Pleasant rooms, especially off courtyard. Excellent restaurant with modern French cooking. Will attempt to stay in this hotel as we travel to the South of France. Close to tarmacked cycle way through Normandy!
