Great location ! Stayed for 2 nights before rental home was available. Comfortable, good size bathroom, great foam mattress. The Taxi Stand across the street was a bit loud and quite a bit of profanity, but with all doors closed it was manageable. Walk to several restaurants and amenities.

We wanted a holiday in Antigua, but didn't fancy the all inclusive experience. A very good British Airways offer for 2 weeks at AYC made up our minds. AYC is right on the front of Falmouth harbour. Opposite is a short jetty/pier, with 2 floors of buildings, including the AYC gym, Cloggys restaurant, Skullduggery bar, seabreeze café, a small grocery shop and a ships chandlery. Then it's the yachts. Everything from the smallest dingy to Philip Green's £150 million 90 metre 'Lionheart' monster.(Note to self....well done for not making any comments about Mr Green and his 'interesting' dealings with BHS). AYC has 2 parts. We stayed in the 'hotel' which is adjacent to the road. Our room looked directly over the marina. The hotel rooms are large, with a balcony and large shower. The balconies have 1 relaxer on them....for double rooms....strange. They do not have self catering facilities, which are available in the rooms which spread up the hillside. Rooms are noisy, both from outside (bars, general activity, early morning deliveries) and due to painfully thin walls between rooms. If you are out enjoying the local nightlife and don't plan to sleep until after midnight, it's generally no problem, but take ear plugs just in case. Every member of staff that we met was friendly and helpful. The local beach is 10-15 minutes walk away and involves going up and then down a quite steep hill. The hotel does provide a courtesy mini-bus, although you may need to wait for it and be tied to a return time if you want picking up. The walk is better, as it includes great views along the way. The effort is worth it. Overall, I'd give Pigeon beach number 1 spot for Antigua beaches. It looks great, has trees for shade, lovely sand, toilet facilities, parking, a playground / exercise area, passing yachts for entertainment, 2 restaurants (although Catherines is overpriced and pretentious and the service in Bumkins is probably the slowest I've ever experienced), a good mix of ages, tourists, locals etc and lovely safe and easy swimming. We believe the room only option of seeing Antigua was far better than going all inclusive as it allowed us to experience many of the local bars and restaurants (which are absent near all inclusive resorts.....why would anyone use them when 'free' food and drink is available at your resort) and feel a little more in touch with this beautiful island.

We stayed here for a week to celebrate my husband's birthday. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Great view over Falmouth harbour from our room. Just a quick stroll across the road for a good choice of restaurants and bars and more just up the road if they don't satisfy you.

The hotel has a courtesy bus which will take you to the beach or down to Nelson's Dockyard too.

Saving the best till last ... each and every one of the staff are superb, so very friendly and helpful. They helped us with booking tours, gave us recommendations of where to eat and most of all helped us immensely when our pre-booked transfer back to the airport failed to show and we couldn't get hold of anyone on the phone numbers we had been given. Found us a taxi at a reasonable price which arrived within 5 minutes to collect us and taking all the stress out of the situation.

Would most definitely stay there again should we return to Antigua.

When I booked, I had read the reviews concerning noise. I called to discuss and the reservations agent assured me that I had a room in the back that was quiet. Upon checking in, I was assured that the room was not near the bars and therefore quiet. All not true. It is SO noisy that you can't even watch the tiny, lame tv in the room. I just went to the front desk to discuss as the hotel room phone is not working only to find there is NOBODY on duty or to be seen. The doors are all open. The noise is blaring and nobody is on duty. Not my idea of good service, security or transparency with regard to noise.

Booked a room through British Airways at a good rate, but paid for this in the long run, three room changes in one week. Rooms overlooking harbour are very noisy. We were not told that there would be loud music nearly every night of the week, either by British Airways or the hotel reception. Connecting door between hotel rooms flimsy, ill fitting and you have no real privacy, Extreme lack of security in hotel,a group of very drunk people came in at 4.30 in the morning, talking loudly trying handle of connecting door to our room, they planned to party yet it would appear not all of them were even guests in the hotel, so just allowed to wander around at will. Only security guard on main gate came to sort them out, reception area deserted after our initial call for assistance.
Faults in every room. Safe not working, glass in window frames not fitted properly. Very bad musky smell in the suite we were eventually allocated. Water was coming up through tiles in the bathroom, slippery and dangerous. Towel rail not secured to wall etc.

This hotel is situated in a very beautiful area, fantastic views. Lots of staff, but some need retraining. Two could not be relied on when given a simple request.
An assistant manager tried her best to rectify a bad situation, but despite asking to have a word with the Manager that request was ignored.

We have stayed in many hotels throughout the Caribbean and enjoyed our stay, unfortunately this was for us the hotel from hell.

Room Tip: Higher rooms obviously have good views, but still lots of noise. Steep climb to these rooms for those not in good health or the elderly.
