This was our first dive trip to Grand Cayman and we are definitely returning in the future. The resort is very nice, located on a quiet coastline far from all the activity at or near Seven Mile Beach. A short taxi ride will take you anywhere you want to go in and around Georgetown. The owners, Craig and EmmaJane are warm and delightful people who truly want you to have the very best experience possible. They are continually upgrading the property after acquiring it two years ago. We chose a dive package that included all meals and three drinks per person/day which was perfect. The food was very good, offering several choices for breakfast and dinner. For dinner you have a choice of three entrees, along with a salad , bread and desserts. We enjoyed the meals, but wished they could find a way to serve them hotter. Most times they were just warm. We found that if you preferred to wait a bit after the dinner start time at 6:30 to eat, the salad bar was a bit scarce or already gone. That could be easily fixed with simply having more on hand for later diners. I feel the full menu should be available to all the guests, not just those eating when the service begins.
The rooms were spacious and very clean. We did enjoy having a TV in the bedroom as well as in the sitting area.
The diving operation was exceptional. Most of the week we had Bernie and Gen as our divemasters and boat crew. Ben and Kaitlin also joined us for a few dives. The dive team is truly awesome! They are professional, warm and caring. The valet diving is amazing. They handle all your gear from start to finish. You simply need to bring your mask and fins with you. They ready the gear, change your tanks for you between dives, bring your BCD and reg to you while you just put it on and jump in! Boat briefs are very thorough, including specific fish to look for, topography, etc. They guide you for the first 30 minutes of the dive, then you are free to explore on your own. We have never experienced this before and loved it. Shore diving is also available from their pier.
Have to give a shout out to Gen and Bernie...we absolutely loved diving with you guys. You make a terrific team and were so helpful to both of us. Can't thank you enough for an awesome week!
The wait staff was prompt and quite friendly and attentive.
Last, but not least, is Colin the bartender. What a fun, entertaining guy! Makes awesome drinks and really livens up the bar crowd.
Overall, we would highly recommend Cobalt Coast for an all inclusive dive vacation. You won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: The second floor suites provide the best view of the ocean.

LOL! You just gave Craig and Emmajane a big promotion! They manage the resort but do so as if they own it, which is what makes them such a great team AND makes guests' stays wonderful. And we are grateful that you recognize the great Valet Diving service provided by Reef Divers. It does tend to spoil you for going anywhere else :)

Thanks for recognizing staff members who contributed to your vacation. We hope you will come back here or to one of our other resorts - Cayman Brac Beach Resort and Little Cayman Beach Resort - where you will experience the same high level of personalized service at the resort and while diving.

I traveled to Grand Cayman from California with a dive group from Kentucky. I was so impressed with the resort. The dive masters took care of all our dive gear each day and we only had to take our mask, fins and snorkel. They took us on 3 dives a day to very unique and interesting dive spots. I loved following the guide diver to see all that he pointed out. My favorite dive was feeding the sting rays and having them swim all around me. The food was good. I liked all the variety of options they had for breakfast: cereal, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, muffins, bagels and toast. The lunches were also great. After 2 morning dives, I was always hungry. Lunches had nice salads and a hot entry each day. I loved the choices at dinner. Often I couldn't decide between two of the 3 entrees offered but always loved what I picked. I liked how we could go get the salad and soup ourselves but were waited on for the dinner. It made it seem more special. The desserts were amazing also. The room was comfortable, very clean and nice and cool. I liked the shower without a shower curtain. It was an amazing vacation. The bartender, waitress, office staff and housecleaners were all friendly and nice. (Especially Sarah)

Room Tip: I loved our room by the dive shop. Or the room on the other side by the pool. It was nice having a table and chairs and a patio.

We our very happy you enjoyed yourself, coastalgirl39, and that the long trip from California was justified. You were there when we first started out new dinner service with the choice of 3 entrees. Our guests seem to feel its a nice experience, so your comments are appreciated.

And hearing that you enjoyed your diving makes us smile, too. We do have a fabulous staff. Thank you for your visit and for your review.

Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The entire staff was all about us enjoying our stay and we really did!! All meals were well planned and served with excellence. Management was onsite and made sure all guests were taken care of. Coffee was always ready by 6am, delightful!!
Diving was some of the best I have ever done. The dive boats were well maintained and staffed with the kindest people I have ever been associated with diving! They love diving and explained each dive with passion. Well done at every level!

Room Tip: Rooms on the North side all view the Ocean, pool and dock! Very Nice!

We traveled to Grand Cayman from Maryland on 4/18/2018-5/5/2018. Overall the trip was just wonderful thanks to the Diving and laid back vibe of the resort and Sarah in particular..

Things upon arrival did not start out well. We were told we had transfers from the airport to the hotel. Waited 40 minutes and NO one arrived. Felt like an idiot asking every person who walked through the door if they were from Bush Tours. After 40 minutes gave it up and paid another $42.00 plus tip to get to the hotel

Upon arrival we were greeted by Emma and Gen. Told them of no transport, Received an apology but no offer to actually pay for the cab. Not a good start.

We booked a penthouse room. The web site is very poor. No actual descriptions of the rooms with good pictures. We booked the penthouse thinking we would receive a room with the spacious balcony that is pictured on the web site. You know what assume means.....

The penthouse was recently remodeled....hmmm...Overall it was very nice. However the "balcony" was so small you could not get two chairs and open the door. One side of the door was permanently nailed shut. Two weeks of this was not good.

When we asked about this and where was this beautiful balcony pictured on the web site we were told it was accessible from another flight of steps but was not for the penthouse room. No way could we use this balcony as it was no way to get there from our room and there was NO railing on it anyway. Completely disappointed with this "Penthouse". It should have been described as a studio with no outdoor access. This would have been much more fitting.

We do not go to the Caribbean to watch TV. It is nice to have though when your partner goes to bed at 8Pm. The TV was in the sleeping area. Urgh...

We again asked what could be done about this. Emma and the Maintenance man (from Roatan)were wonderful. Monday morning we had another TV in the sitting area. THANK YOU!

WIFI for the first few days was accessible from the sitting area. Then you had to go to the non-existent balcony to get a signal. I felt like a pest by now so just dealt with it.

This about covers all of the negative so onto the great. The DIVE Shop and waitress Sarah. These two elements saved the trip.

Diving with Chris, Kaitlin, Rowen and Ben was fantastic. GC diving is a close second to Roatan. The dive team made sure you had everything you needed on board everyday, Great pre-dive overview. Nice boats and great dive locations. The DM spent 30 minutes or so guiding you then you were on your own close to the boat for 20-30 minutes more. If you want to go off on your own for the entire dive you are free to do so, Shore diving was available for most of the 2 weeks. Just grab a tank and go.

We had the resort in the afternoons to ourselves for the most part. We just like to hang around in the afternoon and chill. The pool was ours most days.

We did the All inclusive package with additional 5 drinks per day. Food was good. However if you are a late diner most of the time food was scarce. If you say dinner is to 8PM then you need to have food available until the END OF THE STATED HOURS. We would go down to dinner at 7:15-7:30 several times no salad makings, no soup, no dessert. Luckily you order your entree from a selection of 3 offerings so at least you were guaranteed a main dish. We go AI 2x a year all over the Caribbean, never ran into an empty soup/salad bar before.

Overall the entrees were good to really good. Drinks made by Sarah were fabulous. Several times when Sarah was off by the time we arrived for dinner we would have to order drinks two to three times before they actually came. We are talking 15-20 minutes.

They say Ice Tea is available and included. Well this is true until after lunch and just before dinner. We were told if we wanted an ice tea at any other times we would be charged....WHAT? Really how much does a few tea bags cost. Never encountered this before with an AI package.

The grounds are kept beautifully, They are always fixing, painting and cleaning, The staff is just wonderful from the groundskeeper to the office staff. Just love Gen.

As said before it was the diving that pulled this vacation out of the dregs. We always have a great time on vacation because we go with the right attitude. This can be a 5* resort. Improve the web site so the rooms are described. Have food available when you say you will. Charging for ICE TEA???Really

Would we return ....yes...because the diving is fantastic and the dive team/resort staff really want you to have a great time.

Room Tip: get a one bedroom if you want seperate silling area

We had a large one BR suite with a nice ocean view. The room was very clean, the bed was quite comfortable, and overall the room was very comfortable; it more than met our needs.
The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was good.
Breakfast and lunch were buffets, and had plenty of food and was always good fare. We ordered off the menu for the evening meal, and there were 3 options, one was a vegetarian option for those so inclined. And the meals were very good. Now, this is a dive resort, not fine dining, so do not expect Hemingways. But, the food was always tasty and plenty to satisfy us. We had the full inclusive package, so we had drink tickets. As we were diving, we were not there to party, and it was difficult to use all 21 tickets each of us had.

Now, for the diving and the dive staff. The diving at Grand Cayman is everything you read about. It was fantastic, and we plan to go back. Our dive guides, Oli and Caitlyn were awesome. They took great care of us, and made it a truly wonderful experience. In fact, I have been diving for 15 years, and they gave the best, most detailed dive briefs I have ever received.

Room Tip: Second floor if you want a good ocean view.

We certainly appreciate your visit and your review, kmallo! It makes us smile that you enjoyed our resort, meals, and especially our Reef Divers staff. Oli and Caityn do rock. Our goal is to brief the dive thoroughly so if you and your buddy would like to explore on your own - you are prepared. With our mostly current-free diving conditions and diving from moorings, it's very easy for divers of all levels to get comfortable and confident enough to "do their own things" as long as they conform to the dive depth and time profile. We're very pleased you enjoyed yourself and will look forward to your return visit.
