I booked a late Aug trip and arrived to 35 Deg heat which was really nice. I had booked in for 12 days. I know the area so I knew what I wanted to do etc. I arrived early had to pop into the village for something to eat. When I got back I was shown my room. It was very nice, it did the job I needed it for. I settled in quite quickly and David the owner explained all about the place and places to go either by car or walking.
I was shown the self service honesty bar etc.
The breakfast was the traditional German breakfast which was great. Lunches could be ordered the night before for those travelling on the next day or going walking or on day trips etc.
David has a good knowledge of the area which is very useful.
There were plenty of people in during my stay, lots of UK bikers in small groups who were travelling around Europe etc, very friendly, few drinks on the evening and was cosy.
the local villages catered for most things, some great restaurants with a good choice of food. The local town of Achern provided anything else you needed from the shops.
I joined a local gym for the 2 weeks, going in the morning and then sightseeing later in the day, the staff there were really good.

there are a great many places to visit depending on what you want to see.
Another bonus was as part of the Black forest experience you were given a free travel card for the local buses and the trains within the Black forest, so you happily go walking and then get the train back to the nearest village to the Guest house.
The fresh air and quietness made a nice change.
The rates charged for the rooms was very good and included breakfast.
the guest house is a traditional build and nor a modern hotel but offers everything you need, because of the length of my stay They even did washing for me.More
