I had the most juicy and delectable hamburger in this cafe. I also happened to share a club sandwich and it was well done, very tasty. Their off the counter pastry without any flour was excellent. Do not miss this opportunity to visit this cafe as it is a few km away from Auckland in a lovely area which you will enjoy.

I have traveled the world from New York to the corners of New Zealand. This cafe is one of my favorite places. Great Sunday morning energy, staff makes you feel at home with great food and service. They have almond milk and vegetarian options. Really enjoyed my eggs and ate most of everybody else's food. The beef salad was surprisingly good and cooked to perfection. The portions were quite large. Give this location a 9 !! Love sitting in the garden sipping my latte on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Thank you Plume Cafe. This location is a must see if you are in Matakana.

We went up to the Matakana Farmers Markets for a look around on our way to the Bay of Islands.

We checked out the markets, bought some cheese from Cheese on Wheels, some bread from the bakers and some other nibbles and, before heading off, we stopped at the the Plume Cafe for a coffee and some cake.

Really great coffee and the selection of cakes are dangerous to your health.

This place seemed to be popular judging from the number of people inside and it has quite an extensive menu ... it is also licensed so you can have a glass red with your bacon and eggs.

The do burgers, calamari salad, Belgian waffles, chicken penne pasta and lots more .. and those are just the snacks .. check out the full menu on their website.

We sat out on one of the balconys at the front of the cafe and watched the people coming and going to the markets ... but you can also sit inside or in a garden setting on the left hand side of the building .. but then you wont see those market people and you will run out of stuff to talk about.

A very pleasant way to spend half an hour or more.

Stayed in Matakana for a couple of nights. Had lunch at the cafe on a very hot day. No problem as lots of shaded outside areas as well as inside space. The grape juice we had comes from the owners winery and was very good. Our food was well presented with lots of flavour. Portion sizes were good. My all day breakfast was more than enough and my wife's club sandwich too much for her. Not inexpensive but overall good value for what we had. Would recommend.

Lovely position in Matakana. Lots of parking available. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Food was so delicious and lots of choices. Hollandaise Sauce was disappointing, maybe just a failed attempt. Sweetcorn Fritters were superb. Coffee was ok, I have had better but it wasn't the worst I've had. Fabulous sweet selection and the do high teas. I also purchased gorgeous Turkish Bread, they sold a variety of artisan breads. Wait staff were very good, the Manager was faultless. Good spot, you'll enjoy your visit.

Hi TMRussel,

it broke my heart to read about the Hollandaise Sauce so of course I did a spot check on the same the next morning and found it to be spot on delicious. Chef has however worked out that later on in the day it becomes a bit thicker and loses its taste and has now taken corrective action to change the same so yes I will now pop by around 1 to check it out too. Thank you so much for this review and we look forward to seeing you again, soon!
