“Amazing accommodation and excellent restaurant.”
Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stayed recently at the Gwel an Mor for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I had a massage in the spa which was amazing and also ate in the restaurant whilst I was there. Both were excellent with pleasant, helpful staff.

The accommodation was amazing and the views are stunning from the balcony. Every little thing had been thought about in the accommodation and made our stay just perfect. The cleanliness throughout the lodge is excellent !

On the Saturday evening I ate at the restaurant with friends which was excellent and the staff were very attentive.

A very enjoyable weekend for all of us. Thank you Gwel an Mor

what a lovely place to stay, I read reviews and saw pics on the web, but come and see for yourselves, absolute luxury, and amazing views.....we stopped off at supermarket beforehand, and stocked up on essentials (for brekkie and a little lunch), we needn't have bothered, all we needed for our 3 night break was already there, bacon, sausages, butter, eggs, bread, milk, fruit, fruit juice, champagne, canapes.and an arrangement of flowers on our dining table wow....also, a very good base for visiting, we went Lands End, one day and Falmouth another, not a stressful drive anywhere...restauarant was great, nice portions, ALL staff on site, very helpful and cheery.......we will be back !!!!!!

Room Tip: we booked the VIP Deluxe cabin, which had its own private hot-tub, very handy to get away from TV fo...

We have recently returned from a very enjoyable New Year break at Gwel an Mor. It was a first time visit for us and we couldn't have had a better time. The resort is well designed with great facilities..and we tried a variety of them, from the wildlife walk to dining in the Terrace restaurant to the spa and would highly recommend them all. The wildlife walk was a particular highlight for us all, young and old, and Gary really made it fun and interesting and left our children with plenty of new ideas for unusual pets! Our lodge was very comfortable, well equipped and had everything we needed, and it goes without saying how much we all loved the hot tub! The staff at Gwel an Mor were extremely friendly, attended to every detail and were very helpful to us and very patient with our three inquisitive children! Gwel an Mor is located in a beautiful place and is ideal whether you just want a relaxing break on site or as a base from which to visit the surrounding beaches, towns and sights and I'm sure we shall be back again.

Whilst Gwel an Mor is a Holiday Resort they do have a restaurant that is open to non-residents and this review concerns that.
I have visited at lunchtime and enjoyed one of their wraps, which are extremely tasty and very filling. My recommendation would be to go for several different choices, as they come cut in two (they are large wraps), and then swap one half of the wrap, because it is so difficult to decide which ones to have!
Recently however I visited the restaurant to celebrate a 50th Birthday and it was the perfect location. The service and food was excellent. There is a wide choice of main courses from Pizzas, to home made Burgers, to Pasta dishes, Steak and Specials, to mention but a few. I had a Crab, Prawn and Smoked Salmon starter and Sea Bass for the main course. It was delicious, and amongst our party of 12 everyone was full of praise for their individual choices.
I would highly recommend visiting here, I cannot wait to go back and try some of the other dishes.

For the past 3 years, myself and my fiance have been to the Gwel an Mor resort and it's fair to say we have fallen in love with it and everything it has to offer! Last year we even got engaged at the resort whilst on a relaxing break for my 30th birthday.

The resort itself offers a quality, relaxed environment that we strongly believe most people will love. From the moment you arrive, to when you depart, the staff on site do their utmost to make your stay memorable starting with a member of the team who takes you to your lodge where you will find a welcome chocolate on your pillow (a nice touch!). The lodges themselves are lovely - a real home from home but with a dash of extravagance! The log burners and hot tubs (in the VIP lodges) make your stay one to remember.

The surrounding area is well worth exploring too. We have taken walks down to the beach, which itself is beautiful both in summer and winter. Also, in Portreath there is the best bakery with the best Cornish pasties - a must when you go. Last year we took part in the nature tour which was fantastic and which ends with the chance to feed their tame fox - again, a unique experience. This year we found that the Chinese restaurant in Portreath is also a gem and I'm sure we'll be getting take away from them when we next visit!

Gwel an Mor is constantly being improved which means each trip is unique. We are looking forward to our next stay when we plan to make good use of the new tennis courts.

If you want a relaxing trip that you can easily tailor to your own desire, Gwel an Mor is the one. I have no doubt we will be regulars for the years to come!

Room Tip: The VIP lodges offer an extra splash of extravagance.
