It was a amazing stay for me. The room is nice with a great view into the jungel through a big window front. the breakfast was so delicious, I do really miss it. The owners are so frendly and caretaking. It feels very familiar and welcome. We spent two nights at the Yaba Chigui Lodge and we wish we could stay longer. Juan and Ana were incredible hosts. We were greeted like family upon an evening arrival and Juan made sure we had everything we needed for the night. He even brought us a bottle of wine and candles to enjoy our first night!!!
The room was spectacular!! We woke to the howler monkeys right outside our room. We sat outside on the private deck and watched them all morning.
Breakfast was spectacular with fresh fruit, juice, bread and eggs with beans and rice (exactly what we said we liked!)
We were given so much information about restaurants and local attractions. We had dinner at Mamma and Pappa Italian Resturant very close by and it was quiet and delicious food.
The next day we stayed in the room as we wanted to enjoy the spectacular view of the rainforest. I had a massage that was one of the best I have had. Perfect view and tranquil setting.
Our only regret is that we did not book longer.

The Yaba Chigui Lodge is exceptional. During our two week vacation to Costa Rica, my husband booked us three nights here. I was stunned by the darling property and our lovely little bungalow facing the rainforest.
Service
The hosts were wonderful! They helped us plan a variety of activities including a scuba diving excursion and a tour of Corcovado. They also recommended some yummy local restaurants that were close by - including Citrus, which was incredible (they even had Vegan ice-cream). The host family is delightful; they are all so sweet and kind. Service was outstanding!
Value
A tremendous value and we would absolutely stay here again. The property is lovely and looks brand new.
Accommodations
The bungalow was incredible; it had everything you would need and more! You can tell just by stepping inside that they gave the construction a lot of thought. There are many windows and even an outdoor shower. The bed faces the forest and it is very calming to hear the stream rushing by. The bungalow was spotless and we felt very comfortable there.
Food
Oh my word. The breakfasts were amazing! I am eating a plant-based diet and the owners graciously accommodated my needs. Fresh pressed coffee and juice was a staple in the morning, including an array of delicious local fruit. We went in town for lunches and dinners, as the site does not have a restaurant. This worked out well as many days we were offsite on excursions.
Yaba Chigi is a must if you are staying near Univta or in Ojochal!

The bungalows are beautifully designed. Very clean and the extra details (towels, coffee, etc.) in each room are a special touch you don’t normally see. Breakfast was delicious and the owners are easily reached for advice on what to do, where to eat and to assist in making any reservations. We were very happy with our stay.

I came with my three children and we all want to go back! The property is beautiful. The rooms are amazing. The breakfast - so so good. The hosts were so very sweet with suggestions and were so lovely with my young children. My daughter said she reminded her of her own abuela. Go outside in the evening and be absolutely intoxicated by the ylang ylang tree. Learn about the indigenous people of Costa Rica. I love that this treasure is owned by ticos who love their country and want to share it with those of us unfortunate enough to live elsewhere.
If your single, a couple, or a family. This is a perfect spot away from the tourists and crowds. Nestled away on a river.
We explored osa, cano island, the whale tail, waterfalls and more. We saw all the species of monkeys in CR, scarlet macaws, humpback whales (and heard them too), two species of sea turtles, a wild jaguarundi and more.
Be adventurous and explore. Or hang out at the lodge all day. You can't lose.
We can't wait to be back.

Beautifully designed bungalows look over a forest stream. A peaceful and welcoming place where every detail over your stay is thought through by the charming Don Juan and Dona Ana. Delicious breakfasts, all the more enjoyable with tucans in the surrounding trees. Refreshing outdoor showers too!
