We stayed in the beautiful cottage. It smelt fresh and newly painted and this may be why it felt like it wasn’t quite ready! The staff were lovely and helpful. They responded to any request or enquiry.

I will try and review Pete’s restaurant and bar separately but want to acknowledge that the food was way beyond our expectation. My 12 year old son said it was ‘bangin!’ The restaurant was quiet which is a surprise given the quality of the food. Above what you would expect.

The cottage sleep four but there were only three comfy chairs which meant we struggled to spend time together as a family in the one area. There is a kitchen and washing up liquid but no cutlery, crockery, cooking equipment or washing up brushes, clothes or tea towels. The toaster was still in the box, unopened and the fridge still had the tape for transport on it. No lamps so either darkness or bright lights. My main concern was the lack of blinds on the upstairs window as anyone on one balcony from the main building could look directly into the double bed!

We had an enjoyable stay and the above did not spoil it. I suspect these things will be attended to as the cottage itself if gorgeous.

Our taxi driver explained that the hotel was a former jobcentre and that does explain the unusual appearance and architecture. Reception area could do with sprucing up but friendly staff and huge suite style room. Room 7. Very clean, fastest filling bath ever as shower is overhead only and I did not want to wash my hair. I found the springs in the mattress a little lumpy. The greatest part of the stay was the food and my colleague enjoyed the pool. Brilliant well cooked help yourself breakfast kept piping hot and excellent choice and food quality for dinner. We have booked for a return visit. The staircase and corridors were being decorated during our stay and were looking great.

We stayed 1 night. We paid £69 and had The Astley Suite.Which was a well decorated room and a very good size.My dad paid the same price for a double room which was darker and not as large as ours.Would definately recomend it.As good value for money

The food has been fantastic in both of my recent visits to the restaurant here.
A few years ago, we came here for a Christmas dinner and it wasn’t great.

I have been for both a Sunday roast and a pub meal here in the last week and both were good.
The Sunday roast is a self service roast dinner with a good few choices of food.

Had couple of nights at the hotel. Ok it’s a bit tired and needs modernising but our room was clean and comfortable and stocked with drinks and biscuits. The staff were all lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Good value for the money we paid
