“This is one remarkable place to stay!!”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I was lucky enough to book a last minute stay in squirrel Frey lodge with the added bonus of the hottub (bliss) the location is spot on if your looking to relax and I have to say the accomadation was immaculate and built and furnished to a very high standard, we received a lovely warm welcome from debra upon arrival and given lots of information, that goes along way in my book, the only dissapointment to my stay was having to leave it truly is beautiful and I shall defeniately be returning soon, thanks for a lovely stay xx

“Rabbit Burrow”
Reviewed 7 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We did not stop in this particular cabin but stayed in another called Rabbit Burrow. This was of the same size but slightly newer. The layout and the condition of the interior were superb. We did not want for anything. A superb location that we will certainly be going back to. The cabin we stayed in did not have a Jacuzzi but we did not miss it. A great location that gets a top mark from us.

“'Fields End Water' is a tranquil and relaxing getaway from hectic, modern life, and a perfect base for exploring the Fe”
Reviewed 25 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We arrived at 'Fields End Water' on 20th April 2015 and were met at reception by Amanda who was extremely friendly and welcoming. As we approached 'Squirrel Drey', we loved the look of the lodge and its location, and when we went inside we were impressed by how spotlessly clean and tidy it looked. The living room has soft leather furniture and there is a widescreen TV. The kitchen is equipped to a high standard with quality appliances - a dishwasher, refrigerator, cooker with fan oven and a Panasonic microwave oven and good quality crockery and cutlery. There is a breakfast bar and separate table and chairs. The bedroom is simply furnished with a built in wardrobe and the bed is very comfortable. The piece de resistance is the bathroom (wetroom)! Superb fittings and a fantastic shower. This so impressed us that we will probably use it as inspiration for a future property we are considering buying. Overall the only mark you can give for the lodge is 10 out of 10, luxury living at a reasonable price. When we left there was a definite twinge of sadness. You're probably thinking that there must be one downside and the only minor thing was the non-existent wifi reception, but this was a small irritant and it didn't spoil our enjoyment of the lodge nor the pleasure of sitting in the hot tub watching beautiful sunsets.
In an earlier review on the website we read that a visitor had made a comment regarding noisy children despite it being an adult only site. It should be remembered that this is a family run farm and it is to be expected to hear the occasional sound of children laughing and, in our opinion, this only added to the sense that we were guests of the owners not just customers.
Overall we would unreservedly recommend 'Fields End Water' as a tranquil and relaxing getaway from hectic, modern life, and a perfect base for exploring the Fenlands.

People will think I wrote this review myself, as it is perfect, glowing and a pleasure to read, thank you very much. We have just installed satellite broadband to the site and now all lodges have excellent Wi-Fi reception and speed inside the lodges, on the veranda and even by the fishing lakes if you wish. See you again soon.

“Wonderful, when can I go back!”
Reviewed 19 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

This place is really beautiful, its as simple as that!

Location is perfect, easy to get to from London by car and shopping nearby for food.

The lodge is so warm, we lit the fire as well which was really beautiful.

We had a couple of issues with the hot tub which they were really helpful at fixing and keeping an eye on.

We had to leave in a rush on the Sunday due to a family emergency so never got to say thank you, but we really did have a wonderful time! We are even considering coming back with a couple of other couples and taking a lodge each!

Shame you had to rush off, hope everything has sorted itself out now. Thank you for a lovely review. You could take one of the two bedroom lodges with your friends, or you could have a lodge each, your choice. Hopefully see you again soon.

“Week of bliss”
Reviewed 14 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We’ve just returned from a 4 night mid week break in a one bed cabin Squirrels Drey). We were only the second guests to stay in the newly built lodge so everything was in mint condition, but everything has been built to a high quality standard and well maintained as evident from the existing lodges.

There are a mix of spacious one and two bed lodges, most with hot tubs and some with log burners. Be sure to specify if you want both (it is mostly either / or). We had a hot tub which was fantastic, maintained at 40 degrees and serviced daily. Half of the cabins are newly built, and there are around 6 or 7 in total, well spread out so you get plenty of privacy. The cabins are separate to the rest of the caravan and camping site which is very well maintained. Everything seems fairly new (though I understand the fishing lakes are well established if fishing is your thing).

The lodge has many of the supplies you’ll need. Doddington is the nearest village and has a few local stores if you get desperate but best to travel to the town of March (circa 6 miles away). We visited ‘off season’, so the store on site was closed but could be opened on request. This would give you most of the conveniences you need during the summer months and seemed well stocked for fishing gear.

The site is remote, which suited us perfectly as we were away to relax and switch off. However, a good Wifi connection exists (and 3G coverage in some areas) and was free of charge during the winter months with good speed. Note the lodges are so well insulated you are best to sit on the veranda or walk around the site to get a good signal. There are two large fishing lakes and a small wood perfect for walking the dog (on a lead at all times) - dogs are welcome within the lodge and the veranda is fenced so nice and safe. There is also a circular walk running around the site, with a map included in the information leaflet within the lodge.

In summary, brilliant value for a week of peace and quiet in a nice remote location, especially as dogs are welcome which made it for us! We've come back feeling refreshed, though missing the hot tub immensely!
