AirBNB at Coco X Cross. A GREAT AND CHEAP PLACE TO STAY (I don't give shout outs like this unless I get great service).
Rental car from カースタレンタカー西阿波みかも店 (Caster Renta-Car Nishi Awa-Mikamo). (They worked very hard to help me get a car and my daughter and I had a blast thanks to them - you need an international drivers license from AAA).

The best thing for this trip is to GET A RENTAL CAR. There are buses through the mountains, but they are actually more expensive by 2X than a rental car and nothing beats the SHEER TERROR of navigating the mountain passes of Iya. We went to the vine bridges, the peeing boy, and off the map into uncharted territory, but the trip was definitely the highlight for me. By the end of this trip, you'll be looking for an orange mirror every sharp turn you take. Take at least 2 days, and try to climb a mountain.

Thank Matt H

Nice spot to take a photo, however as stated with other reviews the roads leading to this is narrow and need to pay extra attention to oncoming traffic. There is a very nice onsen hotel nearby this statue, so it would be a good idea to visit statue and onsen on same run.

The valley is definitely scenic. Spare two nights in the valley in one of the onsen hotels so that we can visit most of the scenic spots.

The road is narrow, winding and uphill / downhill, to be shared by vehicles from both directions, so slow speed and extra care should be maintained at all times. The drive up to the spot was scenic and worth stopping whenever there was a safe lookout spot. Parking space was limited at the statue so be prepared to stop and wait at a safe location.

It is a statue of peeing boy located on the small mountain cliff. it is interesting as it situated in such way that it feels like boy is peeing in the river.Awesome view of the valley from the place.
