Nice place. A little dated but not a huge deal when your exhausted from hiking and all you want is a nice meal and hot shower. The ladies onsen is hot! REALLY HOT. Starting running cold water in it as soon as you get there so when you're done showering you can hop in without scalding yourself. The staff were very friendly. There are definitely mosquitoes to watch out for so keep your doors closed. Fabulous home prepared meal.

I will definitely be back! Between the wonderful onsen, gracious hosts and AMAZING feast, this place was a great place to relax from multiple days of long train travel. One of the highlights of my trip to Japan.

This is a family run place and the couple who run it are lovely. We arrived late at night and the man came to meet us at the bus stop. He also rescued me from hongu when my hike took longer than expected.
The kumano kodo hongu loop starts directly opposite and the beautiful public riverside onsen is right next door.
This place had great traditional food, very comfortable bedding (futon style) and a beautiful private onsen area as well as the normal onsen for all its patrons. What a authentic and warm Japanese experience!

I stayed here while walking the Kumano Kodo. It was my least favorite out of the four I stayed at. Room was was worn and not as clean as other similar places I stayed at. Dinner was ok, but not nearly as expertly prepared. Not many places to stay, so you have limited choices. Notwithstanding my comments, I heard others d scribe their experiences at other accommodations nearby and this might be the best of the lot.

This a good traditional inn. Great food and location. The outdoor onsen is private and heavenly. My biggest issue with this place is the lack of a private bathroom, If you want to take a shower, the only option is to use the showers in the shared onsen area.
Also the owners dont speak much English, a combination of google translate and sign language got me by.
