Service makes a restaurant experience and this experience was awful. AWFUL!!! Almost two hours of waiting for an incomplete order of burger and fries and waiters that just don’t care.
Friday lunchtime. Not busy. We waited ages for drinks and didn’t get the menus we were promised. After a long time I had to go to the bar and get the menus myself.
It took ages to order food (by the time we ordered the couple opposite us had left unhappy without ordering). Waiter never looked in our direction even when walking past five times as if he was on holiday himself (he’s even on their marketing poster). We (eventually) ordered two meals, a burger and cod plus bread with butter/aioli.
After 5 minutes we were told by kitchen staff that there was no cod. The alternative fish dish ‘Catch of the Day’ was not offered as an option, so obviously no fish. (This is at the start of the Easter weekend, not the end!!!!). With no fish my wife asked what the Chef’s vegetarian option ‘Vega van de chef’ was. The answer: ‘urmmmmmm, salad?’ was offered. No additional information of what kind of salad. We just replaced the cod with a toasted sandwich for simplicity…. And waited longer!
The burger turned up, the bread didn’t, the toasted sandwich didn’t. By this time we just wanted to go so we thought finish what we have and leave. …of course the restaurant tried to charge us for something we didn’t actually get. Awful, awful, awful. So unprofessional. A real shame. The food was actually quite good. Just not what we wanted. I certainly won’t come back. I hope no one does.
(FYI I have lived in in the Netherlands for 20 years and speak extremely good Dutch, so there is absolutely no problem concerning linguistic misunderstanding and I will also post this in Dutch)
