“Idyllic little getaway”

What a wonderful two weeks holiday, my husband and I had at Bryony cottage at Higher Lidgey farm. It was the perfect base for us to explore Cornwall and the perfect hide away from work. The cottage itself was just right. Set away from the crowds, in the beautiful Cornish countryside, it was quiet and idyllic. Close enough to drive into Falmouth, Penryn or Truro.

Our hosts had thought of everything, there was very little we needed to purchase from the local supermarket besides food. I did end up buying some kindling and a gas lighter though as I struggled with the kindling in the wood pile and with with the matches left for us to light the wood burner. However when the burner was lit it was fabulous to snuggle up on the sofa and chill for the evening with a glass of wine and a book. There were plenty of books, dvd's and games for us to use in the cottage, but I had taken many books myself, so I didn't get the chance to read any from the the bookcase.

The bedroom was my favorite room in the cottage , as I could lie on the bed during the day and look out of the window at the stunning Cornish countryside and at night look up through the Sail window and see the stars. So relaxing! Throughout our two weeks at the cottage, we saw very little of our hosts, Kathryn and John as they left us to our selves, but when we needed their help for a light bulb or two they made themselves available. Through out our stay, we had 2 sets of neighbours in the adjoining cottage but we heard very little from them at all so it felt like we were the only people there.

Although the weather took a turn for the worse after the first day, we made the most of our stay by chilling out in the cottage and by visiting many of Cornwall's attractions including:
The Eden Project - A superb day out
The Seal Sanctuary - A great place for all of the family
The Lizard - Beautiful scenery
St Mawes Castle & Pendennis Castle - Great History
Lost gardens Of Heligan - Peaceful
St Michael's Mount- Very interesting
Lands End - A waste of time and money
Trelissick Garden - Beautiful
Glendurgan Gardens - Stunning
Godolphin - Amazing

It was a real shame to have say goodbye at the end of the two weeks , as we were so chilled we didn't want to go back to work.

A huge thank you should go to our wonderful hosts for creating this fabulous place to stay.

Lovely cottage with clean, modern furniture and private patio which make the most of the available space. The views are of fields which offer many options for walks. Location is perfect for exploring Cornwall, 10/15 minutes from Falmouth for beaches and shopping and Truro and close to main routes for locations further afield.
The owners are lovely, there for advice if needed but otherwise unseen.

We delight in being able to offer the cottage due to its location and carefully chosen internal design to maximise the light, space and furnishings. We're very close to many places to visit and enjoy that often there are too many choices! Instead you can choose to relax within the cottage's tranquil setting.

“Wonderful, modern cottage - dog welcome”
Reviewed 22 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This is a wonderful cottage. More than enough space for two (and a dog), modern furnishings throughout and a warm, wood-burning stove to keep you warm if the weather is on the chilly side.

It's located near plenty of towns and villages to be able to go for long walks, or a relaxing pub lunch as well as being near to Penryn and Falmouth. We managed to get round a fair few attractions including the Cornish Seal Sanctuary and Lizard Point and Land's End - all within easy reach.

There is an enclosed garden for the dog to play outside if you have one with you, and is very quiet and peaceful, with a lovely decked area with barbecue. And the bed is one of the most comfortable that I've ever slept in!

We would highly recommend this cottage - the owners are friendly but very unintrusive. The perfect combination! :)

Lots of space both inside and outside give our guests the relaxation they often seek in a holiday place. Our wood-burning stove is very popular throughout the year and there's a free supply of logs outside for you to use.
The location of the cottage means that you can happily relax in its close environs but can easily visit other places throughout Cornwall.
