If you want to go to the Avignon festival and don't want to pay the overpriced accommodations in the city, this charming B&B is an excellent choice, at €60 for three persons, breakfast included, at the peak of the high season it is a bargain. We had two spacious rooms, two showers but only one toilet, don't expect too much room service, you are on a farm and the amenities are the sounds of the cicadas and the fragrance of the flowers. Caroline, the boss, and Vincent, the chef, are excellent hots and very friendly. Breakfast and dinner are opportunities to meet and chat with other guests from around the world. If you have kids there is a playground and plenty of land to burn energy safely. Medieval Avignon is only 15 minutes away by car and with a navigator is easy to reach.

We were staying nearby and only dined at this 6-room B & B. It was friendly and rustic, with no menu selection other than drinks. They have a menu for the month (May was duck). We began with a homemade kir offered in different flavors, some heavy with fruit and some less so. Wine list is short and basic, with only local wines, the higher-priced and cheap wines that we had both tasty and not overpriced. We began with an oddly spiced vegetable tart and a terrine that was uninteresting. The main course was duck, potato and vegetables, all cooked in a style relatively heavy with oil and spice. Dessert was an array of a very good strawberry ice cream, a meringue, a cookie. The overall impression of the evening was mixed. The duck was excellent, some of
the other flavors a bit odd, and the dominant feeling was of heaviness. It is a very personal experience of a working farm that grows almost all the food it serves. Wouldn't do it regularly, but it was fun once. At €135 for four with two bottles of wine it was very reasonably priced.

The highlight of our trip to Provence was our stay at Mas des Vertes Rives! Everything was perfect: the cozy, spacious room, the great meals (chapon, goose, poulard, blettes, leeks, roasted potatoes, lavender aperitif, Cote de Rhone wine, chevre, cherries, fig confiture, a Happy Anniversary Buche), our morning (and sometimes evening) conversations with our hosts, our tour of the farm. Caroline and Vincent Corneille are delightful hosts; Caroline keeps everything running smoothly and Vincent is an excellent chef. We hope to return to Provence in June one year soon and look forward to another memorable stay at Mas des Vertes Rives.
