This property is beautiful and very weil kept. The rooms are very comfortable and the view is great. But what makes it truly special is their owners, Stefano and Paola, who go out of their way to help you make the best of your stay. They will help in absolutely everything and will anticipate your needs, as making sure a taxi will be at your car rental when you need it to take you to the train station. Paola's cooking is simple and very good. And before dinner they will have a cocktail gathering for the guests, with wine and snacks which are a good way of meeting other guests. We really felt treated as friends in a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Paola and Stefano will recommend restaurants, sights, give directions to cities, if you ask, and not in an interfering way. They are really very special people. The Palazzetta is a good place to use as a base for visiting cities such as Perugia, Orvieto, Spello, Todi and Assisi.

My husband and I had the good fortune to stay at La Palazzetta. It was an unbelievable experience! From the moment we arrived, Paola and Stefano made us feel as if we were in our own home. It was warm, comfortable and inviting. They could not have been more kind, generous, and accommodating. The room was fabulous! Paola made a fantastic dinner and Stefano wowed us with his knowledge of good wine. I just wish we had been able to stay longer. We will certainly return as soon as possible. It is a true gem.

My husband and I have travelled to Italy many times but somehow have never made it to Umbria. Big mistake. This is truly the undiscovered but even more beautiful country cousin to the more popular Tuscany. When you decide to go, don't hesitate to make La Palazzetta your home base. Here you will find a charming, beautiful, warm and cosy home, lovingly designed to the last detail by Paolo and Stefano, the hosts and owners. Every is special without being fussy: the beautiful and carefully chosen bed linens, the antique tiles in the bathroom, the super comfortable beds. The living spaces are delightful, full of interesting details and personality. There's always complimentary sweet treats, baked by Paola, fruit and beverages available throughout the day. The grounds are as gorgeous as the house, with an infinity pool overlooking the rolling Umbrian countryside.

Within an easy drive are the fascinating hill towns of Umbria: Spoleto, Gubbio, Todi, Montefalco, Orvieto (be sure to buy some linens when you go to Montefalco and ceramics in Gubbio). Great food to be had everywhere, but don't miss Paola's cooking. As one previous reviewer said, we had only intended to eat at La Palazzetta one night but ended up dining there three nights of four. We even did cooking lessons with Paola. Everything was fresh, deliciously prepared and so so flavourful.

Truly La Palazzetta was a highlight for us. If we could have stayed longer we would have; I know for creation we will be back. Paola and Stefano - thank you for making our trip so memorable.

Having visited La Palazzetta previously we knew there was nowhere else in the world we wanted to celebrate our wedding. The ceremony itself was held nearby in Monte Castello di Vibio but Paola and Stefano could not have been more helpful in assisting us with planning the day. They put us in touch with our photographer, florist, musicians, hairdresser, driver and interpreter, all of whom did an excellent job. The reception was held afterwards at La Palazzetta and due to the confidence we had in the team there, we were able to enjoy our day without any stress over arrangements at all. I haven't even mentioned the setting! The view and the pool provided a beautiful backdrop to our wedding meal on the terrace. As usual the food was faultless, with Paola and her team effortlessly catering for our 28 guests. Stefano was always on hand to advise guests about the wine and to share a laugh and a joke with everyone. We feel so lucky to have found such a perfect place to celebrate our wedding and the warmth and hospitality displayed towards us and our guests made for a wonderful day. This really is a very special place run by special people and we can't wait to return.

We have just returned after a wonderful week of pampering at La Palezzetta del Vescovo and cannot recommend it highly enough. Paola and Stefano are incredibly kind, generous and hospitable hosts. We had no sooner arrived than we were upgraded to a superior room. We had intended eating out occasionally but Paola's cooking and Stephano's fine wines ensured we went no further. After canapes and an aperitiv, there followed a four course meal of unbelivable quality. No sooner had we finished and were off to bed than Paola was back in the kitchen cooking one of the scrumptious cakes she made daily and making homemade croissants for breakfast. Every morning one of them would sit down with us to discuss our excursion for the day, suggest eateries and most importantly advise us on the best route and parking spot. The location of this property is stunning and the interior beautiful but the 'piece de resistance' is the fantastic pool with amazing views. Stefano and Paola are a very warm, humourous and interesting couple and Chiaretta is the sweetest dog. We would highly recommend this location and hope to return.
