The Swallows is a two-bedroom semi-detached cottage in rural Dorset. It's only a 10-minute drive to the bustling seaside town of Weymouth, so best of both worlds.
The house is pretty, airy, comfortable in size and furnishings. The kitchen is very well kitted-out (decent knives, plenty of table settings, more saucepans than you could possibly need...). The living room is comfortable, with a decent range of channels on the TV, a DVD player, dozens of books and some periodicals and guidebooks. The ceilings are a little low, so watch your head. The bedrooms are a good size. Most important of all, though, is that the house was so immaculately clean, it might have been the first time it was let.
Aside from the house, there's a garden in which it was pleasant to sit out and eat or let the kids run around. There's off-road parking. There is access to an outbuilding where we could do laundry, play table-tennis and table football and use the internet.
In short, a home from home that contributed to a lovely holiday.
I have two warnings:
1. There is no mobile phone service in the area.
2. It is very hard to find, so get very explicit directions from the owners.
