Most wonderful cave I've ever visited. A must do!!!
The cave can only be visited by a boat trip with a guide, rowing an underground river. The river is more than three kilometers long and can be traveled 800 meters by boat and 250 by foot. There is about two kilometers inaccessible to visitors at the moment. The tour goes every hour and takes 45 minutes. The cave temperature is a constant of 20º.
It is a pity that it is not allowed to take pictures.

The stunning caves at Sant Josep represent as the longest navigatable under gound river in Europe with depths of upto 8 meters in sections.

A tour (approx 45 mins) is available partly by a non-powered boat where your guide (with limited English) will take you through the caves but beware as you will need to duck down when prompted due tight spaces before opening out to a larger cave known as the "Catheral".

Part of the tour is then on foot (by yourselves) through the caves which are sympethetically lighted to allow vision while interesting rock formations have been given names like the "jelly-fish" or the "Devils Head" before rejoining your boat to return to the enterance.

Fantastic caves but please note that due to having to bend down, tight spaces and some uneven floors, this would not be for everyone or those with restricted mobility.

Cafes, WC's and shops also available on site. Well worth the effort but note no photography is allowed in the caves.

Very interesting cave complex. We didn't pre- book our tickets but as it was quiet, tickets were readily available. It may be worth booking tickets on line at busy times as there are only so many tickets available every hour.

The trip takes approx 45 minutes. Involves a journey in a boat (watch your head), a short walk, then a boat journey back. Our guide / boatman spoke a little bit of English and really tried to involve us (we were the only English family).

An interesting and worth while complex to visit. If these caves were in the UK you'd have to endure a long winded safety talk and wear a life jacket and a hard hat. Not necessary here as common sense wins the day!

What can be better than when you cruise on a big ship as Independence, and we stop different places and are lucky to come to this Grutas de San Jose. Well worth the trip with a little boat inside on the Cave lake.

Had a trip here from Valencia, and luckily got tickets with 5 minutes to spare otherwise would have had to wait another hour. Caves were amazing, had to duck a few times in the boat to avoid hitting my head. Only downside was that the guide was Spanish, and even though there were signs for audio commentary in other languages we didn't know where to get a headset from
