Either you go with your car up to the Avenida das Montanhas and risk some damage to it (if you have a 4x4 car forget what I just said and go on) or you buy a sightseeing tour that take you up there and make the trail with you. Guidance on the trail isn't necessary - you can't miss the way and the path is easy to follow - but for the car sake I took the tour. It isn't a long way either, 2 km at most, but it is a beautiful way in the middle of the forest and the end at the top of a mountain is breathtaking. You command a view over two states, São Paulo and Minas Gerais, in a wonderful succesion of mountains, hills and valleys, mostly covered with forest. It is, as I said, an easy trail, so with very little effort you will be up there. I'm 60 and had no problem at all.

It Will take at least one hour to each the top. There is a view point in a middle level but it works more to rest and catch a breath. Up there the view is Nice and the fog is dense. Take water and food supplies, there no chance to buy anything during the way up.

Amazing view. A good place to visit with your pareja. You should stop mid-hike to have a discussion about psychoanalysis and why is BS to increase the emotional value if the experience.

It was great trekking experience with small kid 4+ years old. This trek is not so easy as well as not so difficult with children. However, need to take care as some part is very steep and slippery. It's wonderful experience when you reach top of the mountain although can't stay for long as it was too windy and chilled at top of mountain.

A very nice walk up the mountain, not too difficult (it's worth the effort) , with an amazing 360º view.
