At first, our family was a little skeptical about staying outside of either Munich or Garmisch, the two areas we intended to explore on our trip but decided to give it a try based mostly on the price. We could not be happier with our choice! Andrea met us at the house, showed us around, and gave us a brief layout of the village (stores, cafés, etc). Andrea and her husband were there to help in any way that we need throughout our stay and truly tried to make us feel at home.
The Village is small enough to be quaint and charming, but big enough to meet all of your needs (i.e. Restaurants, shops, activities, etc). The house is off of the main street but only a few hundred meters from the train station and about a 5-10 min walk from the lake which has a very nice walking/running/ biking trail. The proximity to the train station turned out to be a huge plus. We were able to make it from the front door to the center of Munich in about an hour....walking included. Plus, no traffic, no headaches finding/paying for parking, and we were able to keep the kids entertained and enjoy each other's company on the way.
The apartment itself is obviously newly renovated, updated throughout, and had plenty of room for 5 adults and 2 young children (we had 2 adults per bed, including our 4 yr old).
When Andrea found out we had a 14 month old, she made sure everything was ready, including crib, highchair, sippy cups, plates, a tub....most of the bulky things parents hate traveling with. Bathroom has only a shower, but it's not your typical shower.....6-7 jets, an additional rain head, radio, steam feature. Complete kitchen, which is a must for us as we like to minimize meals that we have to eat out.
Overall we couldn't be happier with our stay. It's 45-60 min to the Zugspitz, which might be too long if you're looking for a slope side ski cottage, but if you are looking to enjoy the entire area, you're situated nicely in the middle of it all. We would definitely recommend this for the couple or family looking for a relaxing getaway in southern Germany.
