Marcos is a coffee artist. His methods for brewing involve brass, glass, open flame and time. Customers select what they want, by what brewing method they wish it prepared and Marcos does the rest. Ask him questions about the process as you watch the magic happen. It is my new fave place for me to do "check ins" with our staff!

The coffee roasting equipment takes up the available space on the first floor and the restaurant is up on the second floor. In the restaurant area there is just enough space for two tables that seat 3-4 people and the coffee bar. You are greeted with big windows and a beautiful view of the lake. Marcos has wisely installed air conditioning as the sun on the tin roof can really heat the place up, so ask him to turn it on if you are too warm. Artisanal cooffee takes time to prepare, so be ready for a 10 minute wait. It is worth it!

As the place is designed for intimate conversations, I won't like you if you try to squeeze a big group in there!!

If you're feeling the need for a really good coffee and have just arrived at Panajachel then don't waste a minute. Rush to the lake, hop on a boat , and head to San Juan la Laguna. Off the dock walk stright up the street to the T, turn right, and walk about a block until the road curves to the left. A smaller road goes straight and you'll see the sign. Walk past the first house and a tiny alley to the left takes you to the shop. If no one is there just knock, or ask and someone will come and open it up for you. It is family run and they live right there. As mentioned in other reviews this family owns its own coffee farm ; and the whole family picks that coffee and then processes it. Marco does all kinds of pours and has different flavors you can add. My wife doesn't like coffee and ordered a hot chocolate made from Guatemalan cocoa and said it was great . Prices are reasonable, especially considering where it is. AND the view from the seating area is the best in San Juan. It is on the second story which you get to by going up a winding staircase. The upstairs is completely encased in glass which makes the view from there superb. This was probably the best experience we had on the lake of three towns we visited.

We had such a nice time visiting with the owner of this brand new cafe. He owns a coffee farm a few miles outside of the town, and built this cafe by hand over the last year. It is hidden away from the main road but close to the center of town. The first floor is a roasters with a few tables and amazing views when sitting on the second level. The cafe has the feel of a tree house!

There is an extensive menu of coffee and light food. Pour overs, frappes, ext. Everything was top notch. The proprietor is a local who was extremely friendly and kind, patiently telling us about his equipment.
