I love mapo-doufu. The numbing spiciness of hua-jiao (Sichuan pepper) and the stinging spiciness of chili pepper goes superbly with a bowl of steamed rice. This restaurant, located within the Fukagawa Gatharia near Kiba station, specializes in mapo-doufu. This restaurant takes the name of the Iron Chef, Kenichi Chen, and I am guessing he is the owner.
This is a rather casual restaurant, where you could have a nice fixed meal of mapo-doufu for a reasonable price. I tried this place twice, once with my family, and the second time alone for lunch. The first time I tried the normal spicy type, and the second time the very spicy type. The mapo-doufu is good, but slightly lacks the numbing spiciness that I always look for in this dish. Overall a nice meal for a moderabe price.
