This is one of my must-see areas of Tokyo. Amazing temples, good shopping, plenty of places to eat and loads of good people watching. Arrive early and take your time to enjoy it!

This area of Tokyo is pretty quite but offers many little things to do such as a shopping street and a temple as well as a pagoda.

This is a “high traffic” area popular with local tourists so expect HUGE crowds. But it is definitely worth the effort. The restaurants are a joy to the taste buds at prices equally joyful to the pocket. The shrines are free though it would be the right thing to do to make an offering with a donation. Being so popular, the road leading to the shrines is lined with souvenir shops and eateries ... hundreds of them. But take time to see what’s being offered ... some of the foods are a hand made delicacy and part of the joy of eating is to watch the food being prepared. This is a place to learn much about Japanese culture and it would be wise to hire a guide ... ToursByLocals.com is who we chose. Our guide was Ken who’s knowledge was well worth paying for. So much of this area was flattened by bombing in WW2 but, delightfully, some of the original wooden structures survived.

Temples, shrines, restaurants, shops and good walks to see! You can make a wish while you're in the Senso-ji Temple. It all works so well here and we definitely love it
