Reviewed 4 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Stayed here for five days - 29 April to 3 May 2015, with five friends, purely for tour.

Given a six bedded beds - 3 double deckers.
We kept our luggage under the beds.

Location
In a building called 'San Q' in Higashi Nippori, Nippori.
This is very important to know, because if you book for taxi, for example to go to airport, you need to give the exact address and building name.

Taxi to Haneda Airport from this guesthouse cost not more than 9070 Yen in the evening (8 pm) - using meter.

Nippori is a famous textile town in Tokyo, and I'm sure Malaysian tourist especially ladies, would like to come here to shop for fabrics.

From this guest house, it is easy to go to the nearest train station - Nippori.
Here the Yamanote Line, which is a JR Line, goes to many tourist spots such as Ueno, and with one train change, to Asakusa.

If you are coming to Nippori station bringing bulky luggage, make sure you exit through West Gate, so that you can use the lift or escalator. Otherwise you will find that the stairs at other gate quite steep and difficult to bring down heavy luggage.

Staffs at guesthouse
The main staff is Stan - he is helpful if you asked him questions. Don't be discourage if he seems to ignore you or doesn't smile when he is around. Some people just take more time to warm up.

Other staffs are young people who are on a working holiday.
Both Niki (from Malaysia) and Simone (from Italy) are helpful as well and they speak good English.

Facilities
Shared kitchen
This has adequate utensils & other necessary equipments you need - stoves, fridge, toaster ect.

But whenever there are many guests, the number of plates, cups and glass seems to be inadequate (you need to take turn to use it).

You also have to take turn to use the kitchen if guest coming in big group, and if they cook dishes for many people. So just be patient.
You won't go hungry here if you know what to do; the convinient shop called Lawson is just downstairs of this guesthouse. You can buy snacks or drinks anytime.

There are a lot of information materials for you read, available at the reception on the Fifth Floor:
Mobile Wi fi device rent - 500 Yen per day
Bicycle rent
Extra room key deposit - 1000 Yen
Electrical adaptor deposit - 1000 Yen
Bus route and timetable plying Nippori area
- bus numbers 8 and 22 serves this area
- 210 Yen from Higashi Nippori to Nippori Station or the other way round
- the bus stop is just in front of this guesthouse, which is really convinient
- if you are going to the guesthouse from Nippori Station, take bus number 8
- bus number 22 can also take you to this guest house, but it will take longer as the bus use
Indirect route
- you pay the bus fare as you enter the bus. Using exact change of money to pay the bus
fare is the most convinient

Toilet & shower room
- the ladies toilets are located on the third floor. Both have bidet facilities
- the shared shower room is at the same level as the kitchen.
- the water pressure in the shower room is very good
- hot water available at all time - good
- the size of the shower room is quite small, so it might pose problem with those with big
body size. But then the size of shower room is quite standard in Japan, I presume.
The cleanliness of both the toilets and shower room were good.

Room cleanliness
If you stay more than two days, you might want to clean your room.
I found that they didn't have vacuum cleaner.
They only have brooms.
I didn't like to use brooms used to sweep kitchen to be used to clean bedrooms.

So investing in a vacuum cleaner is a good idea, I think.

Staying with another six guests in a room is quite ok if you know each other, but I will feel uncomfortable if I were to share the room with strangers.

Staying in a six bedded room (with three double decker beds) is quite cramp, but bearable for a short duration.
But then, you have to compromise between room price and comfort.
Anyway you come to Tokyo not to stay in the room.

Late check out:
Since my flight is at midnight, i requested for a real check out time (means staying in the room and not just leaving our begs there)
I was granted a late check out for a fee (slightly lower fees than the price of a full night stay),

Going to airport from the guesthouse

By taxi - if you bring bulky luggage, the maximum number of passengers is three person per taxi.
Otherwise there will not be enough room to put the luggage in the taxi.
You can share the fare between the three person, about 3000 Yen for each person.
Travelling by taxi will save your energy before travel on a long journey flight.

You can book the taxi by calling them yourself.
The staff of this guesthouse can help you by giving the phone number of English speaking taxi company if you don't speak Japanese.
Be there on time as the taxi are very punctual, and the road in front of the guest house is not suitable for taxi to wait longer than maybe five minutes.

Using public transport to go to Haneda Airport is not difficult.
Just take Bus 8 or 22 to Nippori Station, then take Yamanote Line to Shinagawa.
From there, change train again to go to Haneda Airport.

Using the so called 'Friendly Bus Limousine' to go airport is also possible.
Just Google to look for points of departure of these buses from Nippori area - usually at bigger hotels, I didn't use this service, so I'm not sure of its fare.

Washing machine (4.5 kg capacity) and clothes drier
- available at the same level of the kitchen
- use only 100 Yen coins
- washing costs 200 Yen for a 30 minutes wash
- drying for 40 minutes costs 100 Yen: adequate for clothes but not thick ones like jeans or bulky coats
- bring or buy your own detergent and fabric softener

In conclusion, my stay in this guesthouse was okay.
Points to improve:
* buy vacuum cleaner to clean the rooms - makes cleaning easier and more hygienic
* it is time to replace the toaster oven - the one in this guesthouse looks dirty (though still functioning well)
- to enjoy your trip to Tokyo, read, read and read a lot on information - where to go, how to go ect

Service
Liked best: The location is not bad. You could either walk to Nippori Station, which is good for browsing all the shops along the route), or take Bus number 8 or 22 if you are already tired from walking or if you carry heavy shopping loot).
Liked least: Cramp feeling of the six bedded room and unavailability of vacuum cleaner to clean the room.
