“Utterly amazing house in lovely little village.”
Reviewed 5 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Stayed here with my family, husband two teenagers, our little whippet and the in laws. Seven of us all together.
I just don`t know where to start......
The first thing I will say is how clean it was, I don`t mean just normal clean, I mean super attention to detail clean. Really must say a huge well done to the cleaning team, as they do an amazing job,as the house is HUGE!
The other thing that stood out for us , was all the extra little things. Toiletries, lots of lovely thick towels, that smell glorious! Tea and coffee, sugar, cleaning items, too many to mention but we really appreciated all the little extras.
Loved the Sonos sound system too, might be getting one of those!
The house is wonderful, easily accommodating all of us and lots of space to spare.
WI FI is good, important if you have teenagers!
The village itself is quiet but everyone is so friendly and the house is staggering distance to two pubs. Our favorite was The Grapes, really nice family run it and good food served, they also do takeaways.
If you want to just go away and stay put in a house for a complete rest, I would highly recommend, as Dalkeith House is so wonderful, you don`t really need to go outside.
Not one negative thing to say. If I could give it six, or more, stars, i would.

“Just Fabulous”
Reviewed 2 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We are two families of five kids and four adults and what a wonderful time we had staying at Dalkeith House. The house is amazing with wonderful decor, comfy rooms and so much space we were all able to find a comfortable place to be without tripping over each other at all. Barbara was lovely and gave us great advice on places to see. There was a warm welcome from locals in the village, the butchers make the best meat pies ever and the Copshaw Kitchen serves fantastic food. A visit to the Kielder Observatory was a highlight of the trip for us all even though due to cloud cover we sadly didn't get to see any stars. Newcastleton is a lovely village and a great base for discovering the beauty of the Scottish Borders and Dalkeith House is just fabulous!

“What a lovely house”

We were very excited to find Dalkeith House when we were looking for somewhere to stay near the Newcastleton 7 Stanes mountain bike trails and Kielder Forest. The house was exceptional: beautifully decorated; well prepared for catering for special occasions; and plenty of space to house 6 adults and 4 children. The house is located at the "trailhead" for the trails which were ideal for young children (riding without stabilisers and capable of riding up a hill) - and lots of fun for grown up "kids" too. The nearby Whithaugh Park has a swimming pool, climbing wall and mountain bike skills park along with other activities.

We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather during our stay and made full use of the garden and outdoor dining facilities at Dalkeith House as well.

Barbara was very helpful in proving details of dining and attractions in the area and booking was easy and stress free.

I would definitely recommend Dalkeith House.

We arrived at the house and were welcomed by Barbara the owner of the house who gave us a tour and explained all the bits and bobs. All my family - 13 in total - from a 2 year old to an eighty five year old were here to celebrate my Mum and Dad's 60th anniversary and it was the perfect place to do it in.
The house was beautiful, immaculately clean ( and I have OCD so I mean clean!), lots of lovely living space for young and old, modern kitchen and a lovely sunny garden which we had a barbecue in on one evening. The bedrooms and especially the beds were big and extremely comfortable- all the bathrooms were modern and also very clean.
The village itself is lovely and being in the square makes you feel part of the village even though you are only here for a few days. We had a meal in one of the local pubs on the first night which was lovely and the locals are all very friendly.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and we will hopefully get a chance to go back next year.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. The house keeping team only have a few hours between changeovers, I am always amazed at what they do and definitely cannot manage without them! They will be pleased to hear your comments. Delighted the sun shone and your celebratory weekend was a success. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Enjoy the rest of the summer. B

“The perfect house for a family party.”
Reviewed 30 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We celebrated my husband's seventieth birthday party here & everything was just perfect. Barbara, the lovelyowner was quick to reply to any questions & was on hand to give us a guided tour on arrival. The rooms are large & beautifully furnished, the youngsters loved the TV room which had a huge TV and wide selection of films, & I think an X box. I loved the kitchen which was very well appointed & the sunny breakfast room off it was where we seemed to spend most of our time! There was always plenty of hot water for showers in the nice big bathrooms with their big fluffy white towels. The lovely garden area & large outdoor table was great for the few sunny days we had.
We did use the dining room once & it was just right for the birthday boy's big dinner party.
I would have to say that the locals kind of made the trip special because they were all so very friendly. The butcher's, Elliots has top quality meats & the two local shops have everything you need grocery wise. Plus three friendly local pubs all within walking distance....what more can you ask for? Nearly forgot the local adventure park (Rock UK,5 min drive) where you can hire the swimming pool for £20 (yes, twenty!) per hour, including a lifeguard. We also had a go at the archery, brilliant fun & the zip wire. Cannot recommend this house highly enough, we hope to return soon.
