The Twelve just gets better every time we stay. Even with Covid Protocols in place the staff, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, COULD NOT have been more helpful and accommodating.
Fergus has done well holding on to his team - even improving the team!! - When it seems like every other hotel and restaurant advertising for multiple members of staff - since the Covid lockdowns were eased
Every aspect of service was covered by someone who knew the job inside out - Yes there are a couple of trainees but every interaction with staff was first rate . No mis-understandings even through masks
The breakfast menu just gets better and better. My wife and I used to rate Lough Eske's breakfast as the best breakfast experience - The Twelve has now taken that place - even with four out of our six breakfasts delivered to our room EVERY EGG WAS STILL RUNNY - Toast warm and coffee hot
But the jewel in the Twelve's crown is their tasting menu.
I follow the hotel on facebook and have seen posts showing Martin, the chef, foraging at low-tide for ingredients - Boy does he know what to do with them. Also it was the first (of about six) tasting menus where we have left the table feeling fed.
Twice, after other tasting menus, fast food was required 'to fill a hole'
We also loved the idea of not knowing what dishes were coming to the table until they were set down and explained to us
Then at the end of the meal being given the menu and booklet explaining Martin and the Hotel's ethos - brilliant
I forgot to mention the price for our six nights and three dinner booking would be equal to three nights in Lough Eske if you land the right offer
Keep up the good work Fergus and team - so looking forward to getting down again next year - hopefully for longer
Every award displayed around the hotel (even the upside down one) well deserved
