This is an experience worthwhile to plan for when in the Rioja. It opens only at set times for tours (twice a day or on appointment). But the portico is well preserved in its original coloured painting. That gives you a very good idea of how all church doors would have been in the past. Vivid colours and expressions; a full story told for the illiterate people of the old days. Alltogether this is not the best work of art, but it is a totally new impression.
Inside the church some nice painted altars and works of arts are to be seen. Plus there are some nice statues with storey of local processions around Easter or nativity scenes (depending on the time of year you enter the church). I am not sure if everybody is allowed inside the church on the normal tours, but it was a nice experience. However, the portico is the main attraction.
