As everyone says the Cathedral is only open briefly each day ( go to the tourist info to get details and a ticket) My understanding this is to help preserve the carved wooden doorway( protected by an outer stone entrance so it cant be seen without a visit) I can see why they protect it so well - it is amazing ! Hard to believe it is something like 600 years old - the colours are clear and the carving is crisp. The figures are so lifelike, I just gazed in wonder at the skill involved. The rest of the Cathedral interior is worth looking at as well.

The polychromed entrance arch is simply stunning, and an amazing survival ... no photo does it justice. This feature is what makes it well worth going out of you way to visit the church.
The rest of the church is very attractive and interesting, but not particularly exceptional (so the tour starts with its highlight!).
As noted, the church is only open for guided tours, times available from the tourist office - but there’s no need to book, just turn up at the start time, they seem not to limit numbers. Tours are only in Spanish, but they have a set of excellent English notes (although you may have to ask for them!)
If you’re anywhere within reach this is a “must see”.

This is an experience worthwhile to plan for when in the Rioja. It opens only at set times for tours (twice a day or on appointment). But the portico is well preserved in its original coloured painting. That gives you a very good idea of how all church doors would have been in the past. Vivid colours and expressions; a full story told for the illiterate people of the old days. Alltogether this is not the best work of art, but it is a totally new impression.
Inside the church some nice painted altars and works of arts are to be seen. Plus there are some nice statues with storey of local processions around Easter or nativity scenes (depending on the time of year you enter the church). I am not sure if everybody is allowed inside the church on the normal tours, but it was a nice experience. However, the portico is the main attraction.

This is a nice looking church in the beautiful little town of Laguardia, a place well worth visiting. As far as the church is concerned, I must say that I was surprised at the limited opening times as, having just spent a few days in Logrono, we are used to most churches in the area being open.

The church is only open at certain times in the week and this info is on the door or can be obtained via the information office in person or by email. You can pay on the door (€3) but be there on time as the door is locked when the tour starts and you won't get in if you are late. The church is so well preserved and an absolute must see. It is very impressive. The tour is in Spanish but a good English information sheet is given when you let your guide know.
