Chalet Chamois is an excellent ski in/out chalet for 8 on the edge of the 'Coches' Piste just above village of Les Coches in the La Plagne ski area and is well placed for accessing the Vanois Express lift linking La Plagne to the Les Arcs / Plan Peisey & Valandry part of the vast Paradski ski area.
The chalet is charming, in a great location for appreciating and accessing the alpine surroundings. It's very comfortable and well appointed with all the expected facilities and in addition it has a well placed hot tub, with a great view, which is a great way to relax after skiing. Chamois is slightly larger than the average Ski chalet I have experienced and for me an extra bit of space does makes quite a bit of difference.
Toorna and the Alpine365 team did all they could to ensure we had a great ski holiday, they all worked to high standards and worked to deliver an excellent service. This commitment was apparent throughout e.g. in the help I had in arranging the necessary skiing extras (lessons, transfers, ski hire etc) beforehand, the quality of the food and wine in chalet, and in the way we were looked after by our in-chalet hosts Andrew and Phillip.
All in all, it was an excellent holiday, and the experience of booking with Alpine365 and staying in Chalet Chamois is definitely in my top three of what is almost 30 years of skiing. The excellent reviews we read here on Trip Advisor were part of the reason we booked this holiday and we were not disappointed.
Chalet Chamois is located perfectly for skiing and a steep walk to town is only 5-10minutes, there is always a lift if required, except later at night, however there is no need to venture into town as everything you need is catered for. We cannot fault the team who busied themselves to look after us , all the meals are of an excellent standard and the hosting equals this. The rooms are comfy and warm , the hot tub is ready to greet tired and weary ski legs, followed by delicious cake and afternoon tea ! Nothing is too much trouble and we could not fault Duncan and his team who are all happy to answer questions and sort problems. This was our second time here and we will definitely return. Thank you for a brilliant week. Paul & Nicky
A nice cosy chalet in a good location. Can ski in and out (when there is snow). 10 minutes walking down the hill to the town centre. Ski&boot room. Lifts to the lifts when needed. Friendly staff and great food. Everything that one needs for a good intense skiing holiday.
Been coming to Les Coches for 10 years now and we have usually stayed at my brothers apartment in the village. This time there being 8 in the party we decided to go off piste and go for a catered chalet. Ski in / Ski out is very important to the group, as is the quality of the accommodation, the food and overal ambiance of the chalet. Alpine365 managed to put all of those requirements into one brilliant package.
From the very start of the booking process both Toorna and Duncan (owners of Alpine365) were excellent in their communications. Getting to know the makup of the group and understanding our groups needs / wants / desires before we arrived. Not every group is the same , what is right for one group is completely different from the next. We had a couple of fussy eaters and a gluten free requirement. The menus worked around that and when it didnt other options were available for those people.
On arrival we were greeted by our chalet hosts Danielle and Myles. Amazing people .. we miss the laughs, we really do. What I really loved about them is they got to know us as people and what each person wanted and very quickly became part of our holiday. They were always happy and laughing and would help with anything we needed. What is also really key to being good hosts is not to be over powering. We felt the chalet was ours for most of the time and the guys turned up when we needed feeding. They even came out on their night off to have a G&T (or 6). The food was amazing, great portions, great veriety and very very well cooked and presented.
The chalet itself is a great size for 8 people and has all the things in it you would want for a skiing holiday. Boot warmer is excellent for those cold mornings (mind you it was +8 when we were there so a little wasted ).
Hot Tub was amazing. The views from it were spectacular, Mont Blanc and the Plan Bois ski lift and views across the valley to Les Arc and Vallandry. We used it every morning, afternoon and evening after dinner. a great way to relax and ooze and pains.
We had the option of using Phil the chalet driver. As we are all good skiers we didnt relly need any lifts so he was under used a little . Apart from getting me to the medical centre with a jiggered back! Thanks for that Phil... life saver!
All in all, a brilliant Chalet with brilliant food and brilliant hosts. Apline 365 really go above and beyond to make sure your stay there is as comfortable as possible. Great value for money too.
Thanks guys and we will be back!
Keep up the great work!
Chalet Chamois - Our first time skiing in France and our second chalet experience, the last one in St Anton, Austria. We chose this region for the variety of skiing available, the second biggest ski area in France. Chalet Chamois is in the village of Les Coches, a 7 minute walk to the centre with a few bars and restaurants. We flew into Chambery airport and took advantage of the transport offered by the owners Duncan and Toorna (at a reasonable cost). Jack, our driver was duly waiting at the airport and 1 hour 40 minutes later we were at the chalet. It had everything we could have wished for and exactly as described.
Top floor- kitchen/ dining room. Excellent food provided by Lewys and Mandy-May (even our fussier eaters were catered for). Friendly, efficient, always helpful and nothing was too much trouble. White or red wine was provided with dinner at no extra cost. The front door here leads onto a lane with a car park. Jack, bless him, picked us up here each morning for the 2 minute drive down to the chair lift. It is possible to ski down to the lift via a short red piste at the side of the chalet, but you'd need to be more proficient than us!
Middle floor- lounge with an open log fire, TV which receives mot of the usual channels found at home, Wii games, DVDs, games and wi fi throughout the chalet. I should also mention the wi fi which works well. It's something that's increasingly important to us these days. We would congregate here before dinner. There was a good variety of drinks available to help ourselves to. They call it an 'honesty bar' and we simply jotted down what we had on the pad provided and paid for these at the end of our week. Not expensive - 1 beer - 1 euro. We'd then come back down here after dinner where cheese and biscuits were provided, really nice touch. Also on this floor are 2 of the 4 twin bedrooms, all with en suite. (Not all chalet accommodation have en suites for all bedrooms). A door leads out onto a balcony which overlooks the hot tub.
Lower floor - 2 more twin rooms, a boot room, toilet and boiler room (this is where our suitcases were stored for the week). Plenty of hooks for coats, helmets, gloves etc. The boot warmer was really good, especially in the mornings, sliding our feet into warm boots was lovely (Mandy-May would turn it on before breakfast). Skiing back was easier as you just follow a flat blue run and look for the 2 silver birch trees in front of the hot tub and then straight into the boot room.. We soon got the hang of it after the first day.
Our typical day skiing involved us skiing back to the chalet around 4 or 5pm, off loading our gear and making our way up to the dining room where, every day, a cake or cakes were waiting, freshly made to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee. Shortly after, bathers on, whip the lid off the hot tub and ... oh wow! water temperature almost 40' and by this time it's almost dark. We are completely surrounded by snow with a view down into the valley and mountains beyond with the lights of houses on the mountainside twinkling, absolute magic.
After our first night Duncan's wife Toorna came to ask if everything was okay and encouraged us to use the chalet like our own home.
We just wanted to mention that 2 of the bedrooms with their en suites are quite small but we had to bear in mind that all our ski gear was in the boot room and these are not hotel rooms.
From the initial enquiry Toorna was professional throughout, answering all e mails with efficiciency. We were made to feel comfortable and relaxed, our hosts were amazing, which made it a truly incredible chalet experience. Toorna also organised our ski rental equipment, which was delivered to the chalet and our lift passes at no extra cost. Transfer to the chalet and return was reliable and the cost reasonable.
Overall this holiday was 10 out of 10. We will hopefully return.
