We were travelling as a group of 5 on motorcycles and booked into this B&B, which turned out to be one of the best things we did on our trip! We received a lovely warm welcome from our host, and from the dog! We were showed to our delightful little rooms which had perfect little en suites with full size shampoo bottles etc- yes!! Lovely little tea service as well and a PROPER hairdryer!! Win!! We asked if there was anywhere we could walk to for some food and a few drinks and were promptly offered a lift to the pub!! Amazing!! So generous and totally unexpected. Made our night. Will review the pub (McDermott's) as well because that was a gem as well. But back to the B&B- after a wonderful nights sleep and a refreshing shower the next day we then had the most incredible breakfast- cooked to order full Irish for four of us and one scrambled egg and bacon for the other. Ooodles of fresh tea and a big cafetière of coffee, juices, pastries, yoghurt...anything your heart desired!! It was truly a shame to leave. The house itself is gorgeous as I said the rooms were a delight, there is a lovely conservatory to relax in, taking advantage of the spectacular views, and plenty of parking. An utter gem. We hope to return!!

I stayed at Hillcrest B&B while in Ireland for my friend’s wedding, it’s a bit off the main road but has the most beautiful views over Lough Arrow. Noeleen, the proprietor was the most helpful person you could expect to meet and the breakfast was wonderful. I am an amateur triathlete and this would be the ideal part of the world for some training, quite roads with beautiful scenery for cycling, gorgeous lakes and mountains to run around. Incredibly reasonable prices also. Highly recommended.

It’s been a long time since we last stayed in a B&B & so, I didn’t quite know what to expect when I booked Hillcrest by phone, several months ago. I needn’t have had any concerns because, as it happened, we had a very pleasant stay. I only had contact with Noreen twice before our visit, once to book & then, a week before our stay when Noreen rang to confirm that our stay was going ahead. No deposit or credit card details were requested to secure our booking.
We booked 2 rooms, a double & a twin with an extra fold out bed. This review is of the double which my wife & I stayed in. A nice sized, clean & comfortable room with a great double bed, wall mounted tv, tea/coffee, hairdryer & a good sized wardrobe. A small balcony offered us fantastic views of the lake & the hills behind it but also meant that there was plenty of natural light in the room. With the weather outside being so unpleasant, the room was heated by an electric radiator & the bed had an electric under blanket.
The nice sized en suite bathroom had a shower cubicle with an instant electric shower with good pressure, large bottles of shampoo, conditioner & shower gel, plenty of towels, shaving light & shaving socket. A roof window gave plenty of natural light.
Breakfast was very good. We had booked for 0930 but actually went down at 0910 & Noreen was already there & so, we got served early. A nice self service selection with cereals, croissants, brown bread, fresh bananas & oranges, yoghurts, melon & grape salad, orange juice & made to order fry, boiled eggs, toast, tea & coffee.
For a comfortable & friendly stay, I can highly recommend Hillcrest B&B.

Hillcrest is a friendly, comfortable farmhouse B&B, with a wonderful view from the breakfast room across Lough Arrow to the Bricklieve Mountains, crowned by the famous Carrowkeel Megalithic Cemetary. It made a good base for our day's expedition to Carrowkeel. The good breakfast the next morning was very welcome (the brown bread was especially good), and we enjoyed making friends with the friendly donkey in the field behind the house. Hillcrest is well off the main road, but extremely well signposted. All in all, a pleasant stay, and one we'll plan to repeat when we come back to see the rest of Carrowkeel in a couple of years.

An Appreciation of what Ireland has to Offer, even in Winter, can be summed up in Our recent stay in the Hillcrest B&B. While attending a wedding in the nearby Cromleach Lodge, we availed of most Unusual mild weather, taking walks among a wonderful collage of local colours, was indeed made even better by the Hospitality of Noeleen and her lovely Family. Have avoided B&Bs over recent years, but this visit blew away the misconceptions that the sector might be less that Hotels offer. Why? The Personal touch, and indeed what I would term 5 star service, Rooms and a Breakfast to treasure. Recommended for anyone wanting a true Irish Experience. Enjoy!
