Well what can I say !, we booked this bed and breakfast through booking.com last November only for them to cancel our booking on the day of travel without warning !!! In a mad panic We phoned the owner who was the most helpful person Ever ! The same day as our booking was cancelled the owner had accepted another booking for the last night of our allocated time :(. without question she rang round and found us a place to go for the last night close by. We were actually sad to leave the Hillcrest :( The breakfasts was amazing, full cooked Irish breakfast every morning at a time that suits the guests, also how homely it is and how welcome they make you feel. It's worth saying here that the other bed and breakfast wasn't in the same league as Hillcrest ! But was thankful Noelene made it happen for us.
wonderful week, wonderful place, wonderful people and worth every penny ;) thankyou Noelene see you again in the future for sure xx

We loved Hillcrest Bed and Breakfast. It is a bit off the main road - actually quite a bit, but the road gets shorter each time you travel it! It is well worth it for the peacefulness, fabulous scenery, and comfortable and well appointed room. Parking was easy. Enjoyed being able to make coffee in our room and drink it looking out from the small balcony to the not too distant lake. Shower had lots of hot water and WiFi was very good. Breakfast was fantastic with real coffee. My husband liked the full Irish breakfast and I enjoyed the best pancakes (crepe style) ever. Noleen is the perfect hostess and cook! She also suggested very good places for us to tour. Our only regret is that we spent only two nights there.

We spent only one night at Hillcrest in our tour of Ireland, and we wished we could have stayed more. If you enjoy nature, you will love staying at Hillcrest. We did one walk in the evening and another one, to the Megalithic Graveyard on the opposite hill in the morning - but there were plenty of other walks to do for at least one more day. We had a standard room on the first floor, facing the lake, with a functional and powerful hairdryer and a kettle with tea and coffee - and two much appreciated welcome chocolates! All the rooms are on the first floor, in the attic, and that might pose a problem if you're over 1,85. We used the shower a couple of times, and once the water cooled down progressively (around 21 in the evening - so maybe everyone was having a shower at the same time). The room is standard size - with practical nightlamps, storage cabinets and even a mobile heater in case you're cold. Bed is more on the soft side, I found it particularly comfortable. There was also a heating mattress, which we used briefly after our cold showers in the evening.
Breakfast was very good, homecooked, we had the one full Irish breakfast and one scrambled eggs with bacon and pancakes with real maple sirup. Besides the tea and coffee, you had the option of having hot chocolate, which we took advantage of - good to warm you up after couple days of rain. Noleen was a friendly and helpful host, taking the time to explain how to get places, her husband and the dog were also a pleasant company. The donkeys were also particularly people-friendly. All in all we really enjoyed our short time at Hillcrest and if ever we are in Ireland again, we'll stay for a few more days. Oh, and the wifi was working properly!

Room Tip: all rooms are lovely, and three out of four have a view to the lake

We were travelling as a group of 5 on motorcycles and booked into this B&B, which turned out to be one of the best things we did on our trip! We received a lovely warm welcome from our host, and from the dog! We were showed to our delightful little rooms which had perfect little en suites with full size shampoo bottles etc- yes!! Lovely little tea service as well and a PROPER hairdryer!! Win!! We asked if there was anywhere we could walk to for some food and a few drinks and were promptly offered a lift to the pub!! Amazing!! So generous and totally unexpected. Made our night. Will review the pub (McDermott's) as well because that was a gem as well. But back to the B&B- after a wonderful nights sleep and a refreshing shower the next day we then had the most incredible breakfast- cooked to order full Irish for four of us and one scrambled egg and bacon for the other. Ooodles of fresh tea and a big cafetière of coffee, juices, pastries, yoghurt...anything your heart desired!! It was truly a shame to leave. The house itself is gorgeous as I said the rooms were a delight, there is a lovely conservatory to relax in, taking advantage of the spectacular views, and plenty of parking. An utter gem. We hope to return!!

I stayed at Hillcrest B&B while in Ireland for my friend’s wedding, it’s a bit off the main road but has the most beautiful views over Lough Arrow. Noeleen, the proprietor was the most helpful person you could expect to meet and the breakfast was wonderful. I am an amateur triathlete and this would be the ideal part of the world for some training, quite roads with beautiful scenery for cycling, gorgeous lakes and mountains to run around. Incredibly reasonable prices also. Highly recommended.
