Nice hotel in a fantastic setting. A good facility that can only get better.
We had used the bar/restaurant in previous years but not stayed here, but this year we booked for 2 nights. Room was average size, but had odd and awkward layout. It was functional, but could really do with a complete overhaul. It cries out for some investment and some colour, a few new fittings and proper lighting.
The room was very quiet at night, had an ageing bed and we had a good sleep on both nights.
The rest of the hotel is great! Breakfast was excellent and coffees and drinks from the bar were excellent. The restaurant is nicely furnished and has a good atmosphere. In the evenings, other hotel guests sit around the dining tables to play board games, to socialise and to taste the local 'Hert' beer. There is also a lovely terrace, with views of wild roe deer on the forest edge at dusk.
On an early morning stroll before breakfast, we spotted 11 roe deer in the extensive grounds of the hotel.
We would gladly stay here again, but a revamp of the hotel rooms would be very welcome.
