What a great place to stay near the Abel Tasman. Beautiful views and great rooms. The common areas are a great retreat to relax and give the place a home feel in the best way possible. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and beautifully arranged. Absolutely a great choice to stay.

Thank you Matthew so much for taking the time to review us. We were happy to have met you and glad you had a nice stay, such a pity you could only stay one night. I hope your day went well and you had a lovely trip. All the best, Fran

Great, quiet location, convenient for both Marahau & Kaiteriteri. Modern, well furnished rooms with views to either sea or mountains. Lovely deck and lounge area to relax. Friendly hosts offer delicious breakfast and suggestions for eating in evening. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is one of the top 5 hotels I've stayed in during my extensive travels. From the modern and minimalistic European design to the incredible views out of each room (you can choose mountain or ocean — the ocean view rooms have their own private balconies, while the mountain view rooms don't but still afford breathtaking views), my husband and I were deeply impressed and only wish we'd had more time to spend in the hotel itself, instead of hiking and kayaking.

The highlight of our stay was the breakfast. It was tastefully laid out in the kitchen each morning, with freshly baked bread, crepes, a make-your-own muesli bar, yogurt, cheese, fruit, vegetables, organic coffee and milk, fresh juice, etc. The "lobby" contains a long, family-style table, where all the guests sit together and eat. But the hotel is spacious enough that it feels private, so if you prefer not to interact with other guests, you can just say "good morning" and go on your way.

In the evening, Fran sets out cheese and crackers for guests to enjoy. She also plays ambient music in the "lobby" area, so it's a welcoming place to sip wine, snack, and enjoy the views. There's also an enormous outdoor patio area with plenty of seating.

In terms of location, you'll definitely need a car. It's not within walkable distance of Marahau or Kaiteriteri — it's about a 5-10 minute drive to either town. But given that the entire area is pretty remote, without much in the way of stores or restaurants, you aren't missing out on any exciting city life by staying at this hotel. That's the whole point of Abel Tasman anyway — to get away from the bustle.

We had a wonderful time. If we come back to New Zealand, we will definitely be staying here again!

Room Tip: If you want your own private balcony and a view of the ocean, request an ocean view room.

After a 2 d'y kayaking trip, this was a slice of heaven that was so effortless! The lodge is spotless, the attention to detail and extra touches of cheese and crackers and anything we wished for was so wonderful.
Very spacious rooms with spectacular views.
Lounging on their huge outdoor deck was very special. With a glass of wine in one hand and binoculars in the other, you can only enjoy yourself! The buffet breakfast was excellent, from home made bread, to crepes, fruit and healthy nuts and seeds to out on your yogurt, you feel really spoiled!
A bonus for me, was Fran's ease of engaging just the right amount with her guests, and thank you for not tucking the bedding in on the bed!
A place I would highly recommend!

Room Tip: mountain side rooms, close the blinds if it's a sunny day, it can warm up, but will cool down at night with the windows open!

Dear Iva, thank you so much for your review and your stay with us, we wish we could have hosted you longer. I hope the rest of your trip and the airplane museum you wanted to visit was a success. If not, remember the MOTAT in Auckland is a wonderful place to visit if your husband is keen on more recent and ancient technology. All the best for the rest of our journey! Fran & Daniel

State-of-the art lodge: Modern design, large rooms, huge but cosy lounge, huge sun deck. Surrounded by nature with views of Tasman Bay - the setting is just stunning. Run by young German couple Fran and Daniel who are amazing hosts. Best breakfast we had in New Zealand: French style pancakes with fresh strawberries, croissants, selection of cereals including tasty organic muesli, homemade German sourdough bread and much more. We had a room with private balcony which was really nice. Ideal location for tours into Abel Tasman National Park.

Thank you for reviewing us on tripadvisor, we do appreciate the effort you took during your holidays to write about us. We're very happy you enjoyed your stay here and particularly you enjoyed the breakfast which we have just overhauled to make it special. It is lovely to read that our efforts are acknowledged and you had a good (and tasty) stay. We hope to see you again one day and I hope your ferry trip to Wellington was scenic as promised! Have a safe trip back home to Germany and say hello to Duesseldorf for us! Fran & Daniel
