Accommodation and welcome did not disappoint, within a stones throw of the "sea" front and situated in a quaint cobbled street. Parking was easy and the rooms are really clean and comfortable and decorated with a special artistic touch. Penny cooked two delicious breakfasts which, served up on her lovely crockery with linen serviettes, made the stay all the more special. Penny was keen that Lottie, our dog, was made to feel at home & welcome too - Appledore is very dog friendly and we've enjoyed a lovely sunny day or so in an easy going pace.

First visit to Torridge House. Lovely warm welcome from Penny, the proprietor. Spacious room, lovely comfy bed and large bathroom makes for comfortable living. The nature of the house is very relaxed. The food was locally sourced, beautifully prepared and breakfast around a large farmhouse table means an opportunity to meet other guests Cheap parking at the top of a short hill means you have a chance to discover more about this delightful fishing village. For further relaxation at Torridge House there is a lovely comfy lounge with TV. Highly recommened

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet

This was the nicest house I have ever seen. Indigo, aged 5

It was really good, we loved the chickens, the fishes, the marmalade, the books about India, the Bob Marley CDs in the bedroom, the Carom Board, and the morning TV when mum and dad were in bed. Lucca (Birmingham), aged 7

Quite simply Appledore's finest nights' sleep followed by the most healthy, delicious breakfast ever. The best hospitality. Thank you. Ps shopping for Persian rugs on site was a bonus

Torridge house was recommended to us by a friend as we were on our way to Appledore.
We were able to make a very last minute booking and stayed one night in the bird room.

When we entered the house we were immediately welcomed by Penny who then took us to our room and showed us around the lovely house. Our room was warm, very clean and had an en suite. There were a great selection of books and cd's in the room too.

Penny gave us some suggestions about where we could eat that night and directed us to the nicer pubs in the village. We had a great evening out seeing friends and returned to our room to have the best sleep we've had in a long time. The silence was almost unbelievable in the room and the sound of the seagulls in the morning gently remind you that its time to wake up. The curtains are nice and thick so if you wished to have a lie in you could definitely shut out the light.
We wandered down for our breakfast of nicely presented fresh fruit and yogurt, followed by toasted bread and a very tasty full english. We later discovered that our eggs were from the very happy chickens in the garden.
All in all , we really wished we had more time in Appledore as the village is stunning and in March very peaceful.
Highly recommend Torridge house to anybody who is looking for quality accommodation.

Also check out the amazing selection of authentic Turkish rugs around the house, some of which are for sale.

Thank you for being a great host Penny and we look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: We loved the bird room, it was very cosy and totally silent.
