“Stylish dog friendly cottage in a lovely location.”

Bit of late review from my previous stay but prompted by booking another, my fifth, visit later this year. I have always found the cottage to be super clean, well looked after, very comfortable for both humans and dogs alike and in a great location being so close to the centre of Appledore. Paul and Noel always very welcoming and you can never tire of the scones and clotted cream on arrival.

The cottage is very well styled avoiding the tweeness that you often get but not so immaculate that you feel scared to bring in any dust.My dog settled in very easily and loved the stone floor in the kitchen to spread some mud and sand about but also easy for me to clean up.

Appledore itself is a great wee village which always has some changes whenever you come back but retains enough of the old stuff so you know where you are. Fish and Chips at Sylvesters always brilliant including complimentary sausage for the mutt! The Champ for some good live music and Beavor for grub, pool and view. But all are pretty good in their own way. Have fun!

“A Wonderful cottage in a peaceful little courtyard close to the harbour”
Reviewed 22 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Scones with jam and cream awaited us, a very nice bottle of wine in the fridge- what a welcome! The cottage is in a quiet, secluded courtyard. It is warm and cosy , beautifully decorated and fully equipped. It is in a typical quayside street which leads down to the harbour. Parking is in the car park at the top of the road but you can park outside while you unload and we had no problems with that at all. It means the street is quiet too! There are plenty of walks along the coastal paths, lovely beaches - a great walk to Westward Ho! Ilfracombe is well worth a visit and the Tarka trail is great for walking or cycling. There is so much to do in the area, plenty to do in Appledore if you want a day without driving. Fabulous fish and chips too! The owner is on hand but not at all intrusive, she came to say hello and was very friendly. We had a wonderful week at Pear Tree cottage and would not hesitate to return. Thank you!

“A home from home by the sea”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Would like to say thank you so much to Paula and Noel, we had a great time. The cottage was gorgeous and a welcome gift of scones and clotted cream was just a perfect start to a great family holiday. We found Appledore a very friendly village with a great pub The Seagate which welcomes children, two great chippies . A day trip to Lundy Island was great although if you are expecting to see puffins don't go as they left two weeks ago !!!

Paula and Noel are great hosts just there if you need them and a very lovely couple. Thank you for such a perfect holiday.

“Excellent cottage/location & dog friendly !!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Pear tree cottage was a lovely 2 bedroom cottage based in a beautiful court yard, with a great garden with plenty of seating area, where we enjoyed our wine & scones which was left as a welcome gift for us.
The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need and is so cosy. It's like a home from home!
Our dog absolutely had the best time ever. The owners live in the court yard too and are so welcoming and friendly with 2 beautiful dogs themselves.
The cottages is around a 20
Second walk to the sea front where our dog loved swimming everyday. All the pubs in Appledore accept dogs so they can be with you all day, as they are on holiday too!
The ferry service to Instow is great and the beach there is lovely and sandy.
There is a great atmosphere in Appledore and we had fantastic accommodation which made it even better. Can honestly say it's one of the best holidays I've had. Totally recommend PEAR TREE COTTAGE!!! Especially if your going as a group as there are 3 cottages to rent in the courtyard.

“Fantastic cottage hidden away in great location!”

Pear Tree Cottage is a fantastic cottage, hidden away in a great location right in the centre of Appledore. The cottage has a beautiful shared communal garden which is an added bonus and is quite rare for rented cottages in Appledore, our dog thoroughly enjoyed it. Owners are great hosts and made us feel really welcome, we will definitely stay here again!
